Our first day in Phuket turned into an unforgettable food experience thanks to the recommendation from the hotel reception. Just an 8-minute walk from Ibis Styles Phuket City, we found Raya Restaurant, and it was the perfect introduction to authentic Phuket cuisine. Every dish was incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor. The Tom Yum soup was hands down one of the best I’ve ever tasted—rich, authentic, and perfectly balanced. The papaya salad and stir-fried morning glory were equally impressive; you could really taste the freshness of the vegetables, and every bite was packed with flavor. The star of our lunch was undoubtedly the Deep Fried Fish with Tamarind Sauce. The combination of sweet, savory, and slightly tangy flavors was simply outstanding. It was so delicious that I still can’t get over it—Aroy mak! 😋 To complete the meal, we enjoyed fresh coconut juice, which was the perfect refreshing drink for the Phuket heat. As a lovely surprise, the staff treated us to complimentary slices of Thai mango. They were incredibly sweet, juicy, and the perfect ending to an amazing meal. A big thank you to the wonderful staff at Raya for their warm hospitality and excellent service. If you’re visiting Phuket and looking for authentic local food, Raya Restaurant is an absolute must-visit.

This restaurant is one of the best dining spots in Old Phuket Town. The space has the charm of a lived-in heritage café: high ceilings with exposed beams, pale cream walls, and a graceful central staircase that gives it a colonial, bungalow-like character. Green-framed windows and black-and-white photographs add a nostalgic, timeworn warmth, while the colourful hanging lamps; blue, green, and white; soften the room with a cosy, homey glow. It does get noticeably warm, though, as there’s no air-conditioning; only rotating fans pushing the tropical heat around the dining room. The food, however, more than makes up for it. Everything tastes deeply authentic, bold, and carefully balanced. The crab Thai curry is the standout: rich and fragrant, brimming with sweetness from the crab, spicy, savoury, and rounded, without being cloying or heavy. Each dish arrives with that unmistakable “real Thai” Hospitality here is just as impressive. The staff are warm, attentive, and caring; never hovering, and always making sure you’re comfortable despite the heat. All in, it’s a must-visit if you’re exploring Old Phuket Town: exceptional food, a beautiful old-world setting, and service that makes the whole experience feel effortless; absolutely worth the trip.

Yesterday we visited Raya Restaurant near Phuket Old Town. The location is very convenient, though parking is limited. The restaurant is set in a beautiful two-storey wooden house with a charming old Phuket atmosphere. We ordered kua kling neua, gaeng som, stir-fried bai liang with egg, and pad sam men. The food came out quickly and the portions were just right. The flavors were bold and authentically Southern Thai. There was a small mix-up with one dish, but it was resolved after we asked. We finished with mango sticky rice, which wasn’t overly sweet — a nice way to end the meal. Overall, a great place to try authentic Southern Thai food in a lovely setting.

Had an amazing experience at Raya Restaurant. The speed of service was seriously impressive — everything came out quickly without compromising on quality. The food itself was outstanding. The crab dishes were the highlight, especially how generous the portions were — packed with so much fresh, juicy meat. The crab omelette was even better than expected, rich, flavourful, and perfectly cooked. Honestly, every dish we ordered was amazing. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in Phuket!

A long-established Southern Thai restaurant. Today was my first time trying it. The place is nice decor and there’s parking behind the restaurant, which is great. The dishes aren’t very big, the prices are affordable, and the flavors are average—not too spicy. The restaurant is quite warm since there’s no air-conditioning. The staff are lovely.
