Was great to see that the prison buildings are well taken care of and it’s kept nicely for those who appreciate the heritage value of the prison. Tour was great to see all the different areas (shower block, kitchen, reception, women’s, outdoor rec yards, gallo, cells). Was wanting more in depth information, as information given on the tour was very basic English.
The Fremantle Prison Torchlight Tour is an absolutely fabulous experience! It’s the perfect mix of eerie fun and fascinating history, giving you a real sense of the prison’s dark past. The guides do an excellent job of bringing the stories to life, and exploring the prison by torchlight adds an extra layer of atmosphere that makes the tour unforgettable. That said, I personally feel this night tour is best suited for adults or older teens. Having young children on the tour can really detract from the immersive experience, as the spooky vibe and storytelling are part of what makes it special. Overall, I highly recommend this tour if you’re looking for something a little different, fun, historical, and just a touch creepy. Don’t forget to bring your camera, you might end up with some weird and wonderful photos!
We got lost while finding the place but it turns out to be an experience that worth all the hassle. The staff offer nice advise one on which type of tour to experienced but as we have limited time, we just choose the one more kids friendly and with minimal waiting time. It's quite a hot day but the tour guide makes the tour pleasant with his humourous speech and knowledgeable sharing. Surprise the place even offer water dispenser to keep visitors hydrated. Learn a lot of history during the tour and it ends with an activity which the kids enjoyed. Will highly recommend the tour if you are in Perth.
Great historical place to visit in Fremantle Prison. The prison is very well preserved and full of interesting stories about the history of Australia. The guided tour was informative and engaging, and the atmosphere inside feels very authentic. The architecture and old prison cells were impressive to see in person. It’s a good place for both adults and kids to learn about the past. The underground tunnel tour was also a unique experience. Highly recommended if you are visiting Fremantle. Worth spending a few hours here.
Did the Behind the Bars tour at Fremantle Prison and really enjoyed it. The stories were interesting and the tour felt very immersive, giving a real sense of how convicts lived back in those days. The guide’s explanations were very clear and interesting. Definitely a worthwhile and educational experience.
