I have spent time at MANY hostels over the past year, and have come to understand what I value most. That is the people who work at a place. Jo & Joe Gentilly has a superb staff, who clearly enjoy working with each other, and that makes all the difference. The minute I walked in, fresh off a thirty hour bus ride (I know), Jacob at the bar got me some coffee and cheerfully answered the disjointed questions pouring out of my delirious mind. He and the entire staff were at all times attentive, clear, and kind. I was only in Gentilly for a couple days, but because of this staff, it felt kinda like home immediately. This can be a party hostel, but it’s not ONLY that. When I was there I saw a decent smattering of mature guests, like myself, all enjoying ourselves. That can be a hard balance to strike, but this location does it.

We would especially like to thank Luka V for the incredible service he provided during our stay. From the very beginning, he was extremely kind, attentive, and understanding. He allowed us to do a late check-in without any issues and had thoughtful details that truly made us feel special and welcomed. You can tell he is passionate about what he does and truly understands what excellent customer service means. People like Luka make the whole experience much more memorable. We would definitely stay here again thanks to the outstanding treatment we received. Highly recommended!

Location is really far from the centre of Paris In a run down neighbourhood. Doesn’t give off safe vibes if you’re a solo traveller especially if you’re a woman. The facilities are a 4/10 on the cleanliness scale. The workers were really helpful with giving us tips on how to use transportation. Brandon and Romane gave excellent service and were so helpful with evening as it was my girlfriend and I’s first stay in Paris.

The service from Romane, Luca, and Brandon was truly friendly and welcoming. They were always smiling, cheerful, and very helpful throughout my stay, including the staffs at the bar. You can really feel their hospitality and service-minded attitude. I booked one bed in a 12-bed female dorm for a short one-night stay. I arrived before the 3 PM check-in time and was able to leave my luggage in the hotel lockers, which was very convenient. If you are looking for an affordable place for a short stay, this place is a good option. However, do not expect too much regarding overall cleanliness, as the bathrooms are shared. Please clean up after yourself for the next guest’s comfort. Also, don’t forget to bring your own towel. One small suggestion: the area underneath the beds could use a bit more vacuum cleaning.

Excellent service from the staff, including Luca & Romane, which makes up for a lot. Very kind & helpful people! Unfortunately, I did wake up to bed bug bites that worsened throughout the day. Fortunately, they did refund me and I was able to book a hotel for the one night I had remaining. There is space to laundry, and the restaurant/café area is a neat spot to hang out and grab a bite to eat. I stayed in a cabin, which is semi-private and pretty nice for the price. It's cute and the staff are nice, but due to the bed bugs I won't be returning.
