This was the first hostel I stayed at in Osaka, and actually the first hostel of my life since this was my first solo trip. I arrived late at night, and by the time I got here it was already past midnight. Only the security staff was at the counter, and although he didn’t speak English, he patiently communicated with me using Google Translate (I had informed them in advance that I would be checking in late). Their service attitude was really good. I didn’t sleep very well on the first night though. The sound from the upper bunk was quite loud whenever the person moved, and there was also some loud snoring. I guess this is part of the luck factor when staying in hostels. But I really liked the bathrooms! They were very clean, and the water pressure in the shower was strong, which felt great. The lobby is also very spacious with plenty of seats, and the sofas are super comfortable. After walking the whole day, resting in the lobby felt amazing. The location is also excellent. Overall, I think this hostel has extremely good value for money in Osaka. Highly recommended!
This review is for the twin room with private bathroom: It was spacious (though you might have some trouble with a big luggage) and clean, and the pillows were the most comfortable out of the three places we've stayed in in Japan. However, take note that there's no eating or drinking allowed in the rooms, so if you need hot water you'd have to go to the kitchen on the reception floor to get it. The twin room comes with slippers (which I believe comes at a price for the dormitories), towels, basic toiletries, a fridge, and two hangers. It was good enough for a one night stay for us. Most importantly the location was great, within walking distance from the metro station (if you have luggages head towards Exit 1-3 for the elevator instead of 6 as Google Maps tells you) and just a bit over a 10 mins walk to Dotonbori. I would consider staying in this hostel's dorms the next time I travel to Osaka alone!
I am extremely disappointed with this place. When I arrived, I was told that checkout was at 10 AM. I reacted spontaneously, saying “oh, that’s early,” and they replied very rudely, claiming it was clearly mentioned on Hostelworld. When I got to my bed, it was not made, and I had to make it myself. The mattress was very thin, old, and uncomfortable. On the day of my checkout, I was late because I had a fever and was sick. They came to the bed, and I apologized, explaining I would leave the bed immediately and just use the shower. They refused to let me use the common shower after 10 AM unless I paid 1000 yen. I understand it’s important to leave the bed so they can clean it for the next guest, but not letting me use a shower? I have never seen this anywhere else in my two years of traveling the world. Fortunately, I was in Japan and was able to go to a onsen for 400 yen, where I could wash properly and enjoy the baths. I don’t recommend this place!
Everyone in my room got sick and after 30ish minutes in are room everyone would start coughing… we would wake up in the night in coughing fits stuffy nose/sore throat too, room 409. Every washroom in the hostel smelt terrible lobby or shared ones… An excessive amount of rules along incl no eating or drinking in rooms, doing own sheets, expensive charges if you stained sheets, also just rules posted everywhere. worst hostel experience in Japan by far. Location is great though
The set up of this hostel just doesn't make sense. Towels are downstairs in the lobby so you have to remember to grab one the night before. Why not keep them in the shower room? They only offer instant coffee when all other hostels we stayed at had drip or espresso machines. The staff clean (vacuum, drag loud chairs across the floor) during the most busy times in the kitchen/eating area. The location is close to many stations and there's a Lawsons right across the road but those are the only two things that are positive about this place. I would not recommend staying here.
