Walking into the standard based off a friend's recommendation i was immediately impressed by the beautiful lobby. Very chic and stylistic. The Gingerbread house aka living room area was nice when we arrived early and out room wasnt quite ready yet. Once we were able to get settled in our room I loved how it was designed, styled, and furnished. Little touches go a long way. Big beautiful windows overlooking the city. Sexy bathroom and open shower right next to bed, definitely creates a vibe ✨️. Mirrors everywhere for all the views ☺️ My only complaint would be the first night our shower handle was malfunctioning. We couldn't get the water to get warm, but my fiance was able to fix it temporarily. Maintenance came by later the next day to fix it, but it was when we popped back in the room to change for the evening. We came back and the shower handle had been taken apart and part of it was in the sink. That would've been great but we had not mentioned to the front desk that it was faulty, which leads me to believe they already knew it had an issue...but it got fixed so thats all that really matters. Overall our stay was wonderful, the room and hotel were goregous. The Standard is an experiecne!
My husband and I had overall a very nice stay at The Standard! The staff were all so kind and welcoming. The room was fun and unique, and we enjoyed nice views from the 15th floor. Being on the high floor did put us closer to the club on the rooftop level and we could hear the music - but they did provide earplugs without having to ask for them, and they worked well. The room service and food were standouts! Food was all excellent and all of the room service staff were exceptionally nice. It was always delivered super quickly too. We loved our breakfasts! Location is also amazing. The only thing that was a minor concern was that I was looking at recent reviews and about a month ago, there are 40+ reviews posted that, to me, appear to be fake positive reviews. They are all 4/5 stars, all say two words like “great stay” etc. and when I clicked on the profiles who posted them, they did the same exact reviews for a bunch of other hotels, all at the same time. I’d hope The Standard didn’t have anything to do with having these posted - but it really put me off when I was looking through them! Hopefully they can be addressed, assuming they aren’t real.
I had been wanting to stay at this hotel, and I'm so glad I did. All of my interactions with the personnel were so kind and respectful. They team really went above and beyond at this hotel. I also love the location -- I was in town visiting from DC and it was very close to Penn Station to get home. The neighborhood was also a prime location and views were beautiful. I'll be staying again here soon!
My room showed me what the 30's in NY would look like to with modern touches. I had a great view of the Hudson, a cool football pitch and could see One World Trade in the near background. Not much going on activity wise nearby. Its a targeted stay- if its near what you need- I recommend. *Prepare yourself for vamparicly dark elevators with equally gothic like videos shown within. Different.
American Express incorrectly booked our stay and we had to check out a day earlier than expected. The team at The Standard was exceptional and friendly, we ended up leaving about 5 hours late. I had a box of contacts delivered to the hotel and with minutes to spare until we had to leave for the airport, the receptionist (tall man with curly black hair and a pink bandana) went out of his way to find them and hand them to me as I was walking out. Single-handedly turned a bad check-out experience into a great and memorable one. A bellhop helped load my suitcase into the trunk of my uber as well.
