I stayed at this hostel for two nights. Initially, I paid for one night, but then decided to extend my stay for a second night. During the check-in process for the second night, I had a terrible experience with the hostel staff. First of all, the staff work very slowly, and there are always long lines at check-in. I stood in line for about 30 minutes, and when it was finally my turn, a male staff member — a tall African American man — simply refused to assist me and walked into another room. His attitude was extremely arrogant. I am a foreigner, and I am not required to speak perfect English. I sometimes had difficulty understanding him, and when I asked him to repeat something, he responded as if he were doing me a favor. I noticed that he was very friendly and polite to the people before me, who appeared to be Americans and Europeans. However, when it was my turn, I was treated as though helping me was an inconvenience. I don't understand what was wrong with this employee. Was it because I am Asian? Is your employee racist? Why did he treat me with such disrespect and disregard? It felt as though I was asking to stay at your hostel for free, rather than as a paying guest. After his behavior, I felt embarrassed standing there and having to ask him to come back and allow me to check into my room. Eventually, another staff member helped me. She was more organized than the first employee, but she was still somewhat rude in her communication. I do not know what was going on with the first employee. Perhaps he was stressed and needed some time off rather than working with guests. I experienced a great deal of stress because of this interaction. I have been traveling across the United States for more than a month and visiting different states, and this is the first time I have experienced anything like this. No one in the United States has ever treated me as badly as your employee did. At that moment, I was so tired that I decided to stay at your hostel instead of looking for another place to stay. However, I will never stay at your hostel again. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone. No one deserves to be treated poorly because of limited English skills or because of their nationality. I cannot think of any other explanation for this man's behavior. He treated other guests politely and respectfully, but his attitude toward me was completely different.

A very vibrant hostel, with neat and clean dorms very close to the central park and metro line. The restrooms and showers can get busy though. They have activities planned everyday, which you may enjoy with longer stays. A cafe and a bar are nice too. Lockers are available inside the dorm rooms, which you may lock with your own lock. Recommend if you are traveling alone and looking for a affordable space.

I stayed for 8 nights and the best thing about this place is the staff members. Absolutely on point with providing a positive and helpful attitude and service to make sure we are comfortable and satisfied while staying. Locker and storage space is available for all your precious belongings and the lounge/kitchen/dining area and the nice little café is a great addition and gives you a lot of value for the price you pay here..Well recommended!

I stayed here in October with my sister and it was a lovely time. It was my first time in a hostel. It was a wonderful experience. I would do it again. Our roommates were so friendly and gave us Japanese crackers. I just didn’t like the bed mattress. But otherwise the bathrooms were clean and I liked the rooms it was spacious enough and it had lockers inside to lock your things and the buck beds and little curtains of your bed to not be disturbed. The cafe was wonderful!! The whole tour I got by my sister was amazing. Really nice feeling like I was at home and not at a hotel. It was such a nice experience New York like that!

Would not recommend. When you are in the room, you hear everything from outside. It is, as if there are no walls. For whatever reason the doors in the room are so thin, you also hear everything from the floor. I can't wrap my mind around these good reviews... price and service are good though, but you just can't sleep here...
