My friend and I were looking for a vegan place to have a meal. After searching for nearby restaurants we decided to try Coletta. To say the place exceeded our expectations would be an understatement. The decor was upscale and appealing. The presentation of the dishes was simply beautiful. My friend ordered a chicken dish with a side of pasta. They actually use soy curls for the chicken! The flavor - amazing. The pasta was made of wheat and tasted better than you would expect wheat pasta to taste. I ordered the mushroom calamari and the parsley garlic knots as appetizers. Phenomenal! The calamari not only surpassed expectation it defied logic! The texture was exactly like that of actual calamari as was the flavor. The garlic knots were fresh and yummy. I ordered the eggplant dish. Loved it! We shared the dessert, a mini mousse cake. I don’t even like mousse desserts but that chocolate concoction was a delight! I was not thrilled with the coffee. I would have appreciated the option of having real coffee but the staff was so generous with their time and attention, ultimately they just credited us for the coffee which was really nice. The parsley garlic knots, although fresh and delicious, were a bit oily. Im hopeful they will reduce the use of oil in the dish. Lastly, i thought the chicken dish could use another side - string beans or a bit more potato to make it more substantial. Overall, it was the best vegan restaurant I’ve been to. We were thrilled to find they are part of a group of restaurants called City Roots. All specializing in vegan cuisine. Each restaurant offers a different type of cuisine so my friend and i are looking forward to trying a few more. Do expect to spend at least $110 for two people but definitely a must try!

Superb vegan experience. The mock meat had texture, flavor and matched each dish perfectly. The flavors of the eggplant and pastas were complemented with rich and fresh sauces with an infusion of herbs. We finished with and incredibly delicious vegan flan with strawberry coulis. The staff were warm and very helpful deciding flavors and complimenting dishes. An excellent evening with such a variety of tasteful options. Having just visited Italy and tasted the wonders across many of its provinces, Coletta delivers on a truly Italian experience with the boldness of its flavors sustained in the vegan presentation.

We had a great experience dining in Coletta last night - the food was incredible and the atmosphere of the restaurant was great. We shared the calamari, the lemon ricotta toast (a must-try), the short-rib agnolotti, the hot honey pizza, the tiramisu and the chocolate hazelnut dome. The menu was diverse yet refined and the flavours were delicate and intentional. We will definitely be back!

We visited here for an early birthday dinner on February 15. It’s been on our want to go since we love Willow. As a family, we love pasta and haven’t found an Italian vegan restaurant yet, so we had high expectations. I think our expectations were a bit too high and therefore our review will be a reflection of that. 🍄 The Crispy Calamari (compared to Willow’s) was ok. 😩 🥩 Steak Tartare and Black Caviar not for us. 😒 (Texture, temperature, flavor.) 🥫 Puttanesca Meatballs absolutely delicious! 🤤 The garlic knots and sauce were divine. However, I wish the meatballs were made with mushrooms (instead of Beyond? Impossible?) 🍕 Wild Mushroom Truffle pizza was ok. The crust was crispy yet soft. The topping is not something we would choose typically, but we were trying new options and stepping out from our comfort zone. 🍝 Sausage Ravioli was ok. 😩 I was looking forward to this the most. Sadly the broccolini was the best, but there were only 2 pieces, it was flavored so good. The ravioli tasted fresh, made in house which is great, but it tasted undercooked. 😩 🩷 What made this place great was there are more options to try, so we will definitely return. The busser was amazing!! He kept checking in on us and clearing the table. Our waitress in the beginning (Bridget?) was very nice. She was helpful and friendly. The ambience is beautiful and felt romantic. 🥰 Our waitress towards the end wasn’t as great as the first, but it could be because it started to get busy around 5 p.m. We felt as though we were forgotten. We had to ask about dessert after waiting for a while (we chose not to get any), I got a tea, but then had to wait for the sugar, then wait for the bill. Overall, we’d come back to try some different options AND the 🍞 Parsley Garlic Knots.

Vegan or not- must try!! 5/5!! Best Italian food I have ever tried (TBH- not tried a lot but still decent number of restaurants). Definitely best food in NYC. (I explored many all vegan and not all vegan restaurants during my 10 days visit to NYC, including a Michelin Star. You can check out more at @to.live.soulfully.) And the food here was the best. And our server, Lucy, made dine in experience even more wonderful. 😊
