I had a very disappointing experience with Chelsea International Hostel in NYC. After booking my stay, I ran into some issues and tried to resolve them by calling the hostel directly. I spoke to two different staff members on two separate calls and both experiences were honestly terrible. The customer service was the worst I’ve ever encountered. Neither of them seemed to care about my issue at all. They didn’t try to look into the situation or provide clear information. Instead, it felt like they just wanted to end the call as quickly as possible. On top of that, both employees sounded unprofessional. They were swearing while speaking to me, and their behavior made the situation even more uncomfortable. I genuinely felt like I had to beg just to get basic information about my own booking. I understand that this is a budget hostel, but that does not justify disrespectful or careless service. Being affordable should never mean having rude or disengaged staff. I strongly suggest improving staff professionalism and basic customer service standards. No guest should feel dismissed or disrespected when simply asking for help.
Very bad! I'm so disappointed with this hostel. All the staff are mean and unfriendly, the rooms are tiny, and there are no curtains to separate the beds. There aren't any outlets close to the bedroom, and the bathroom was dirty. I've stayed in so many hostels and I've never had a bad experience like this. The room smelled bad, but the worst part is the staff! If you don't like New York or working in hospitality, change jobs, because for us, coming to New York is a dream. We expect great experiences, so be friendly and kind!
I spend 5 days in this hostel during the winter and everything was perfect, it’s clean bedroom and bathroom, you can have an access at lockers. The personal is really nice Raffy and Rafael was helpful when I got stuck in New York because of the snowstorm. Thank you ! Great hostel !
Very good location, just few minutes walking to the metro station. Also, the neighborhood is quiet, yet, there was a target store near it. Clean room and bathroom but very tiny room and bathroom 😄 friendly staff and we were provided early check in. Good prices. Suitable for short stay. Reception was available 24 hours and payment was in cash.
I had a very disappointing experience at Chelsea International Hostel. The staff were extremely rude and unwelcoming, especially toward visitors. As a traveller from India who are new to the area, we expected at least basic courtesy and understanding, but instead, we were treated quite harshly. Hospitality matters a lot when you're in a new country, and unfortunately, this place completely lacked it. I would not recommend staying here if you value respectful and helpful service. I wish I could give 0 ratings for service.
