The fried beef and veggies were tasty. I came in too early at 11, most food are ready by 12:30 I was told. I paid 850 shillings for the beef + 450 for the rice and veggies + 150 for coke, which I initially felt was too expensive for Kenya standards. A local told me that I paid double coz I didn't have a local person with me, but I've tried other places and the prices are actually reasonable.
The restaurant is a hidden gem! Access is hard to see, but once you get there, ensure you eat as quickly as possible. Because at 2pm, with the number of people that come, all the specialities run out, go early and eat! Best place for work meeting lunches in CBD!
Having finished a meeting nearby my colleague suggested this restaurant knowing I like to try local and traditional food when travelling. This place is quite hidden away, and well worth seeking out. Lots of seating, and we arrived a little early for the lunch crowd, so lots of food to see. The setup is quite basic, you can see the prepared food, meats, many tilapia cooked in different ways, and vegetable choices. I chose the ox tail with some greens, amazing, so tender and flavoursome, I could have eaten a second serving! Definitely a hidden gem, but worth searching for!
Not only is the food fantastic, fast, and affordable, but the service goes above and beyond. Each time I’ve come, I’ve been treated with such warmth and hospitality. The staff genuinely care to give you a good experience and have gone out of there way to do so. Highly recommend grabbing an outdoor table for lunch.
Our guide brought us to this restaurant after a walking tour in CBD Nairobi, this was truly my first authentic Kenyan food restaurant. If you want to try the real traditional Kenyan food come to this place, as it is more of a local place they don’t have a written menu which didn’t bother me as it is part of the experience. I tried dry fish with ugali, how it works : you go upstairs sit in the table the waiter tell you the options of meat they have and side dishes and you choose.
