What a MAJOR disappointment and a catastrophically abysmal let down! Chedi, and The Restaurant in particular, is definitely a place I hold in high regards because I've come to expect a standard that's been nothing short of incredible. I always tell everyone it THE number one place to eat iftar because of how good the food is. This last visit however, I was genuinely disappointed on how downhill the setup, and food was. The setup? So, I understand the relocation for them to the grass pitch means a "larger" volume of guests for iftar, but it came at the cost of losing its prestigious chic ambiance. First of all, I put "larger" in quotation, because it was literally EMPTY! On a THURSDAY! Which was already a telltale sign that this place was no longer what it used to be. I remember when we used to call to try to book a table in the past it would be near impossible because of how popular the place was, and iftar would cost between 22/- to 25/- Omani Rials. Now, they've increased capacity of seating, and charge us 30/- Rials per person? Make it make sense! I thought "Okay? Charging more, the food must be AMAZING or at the very least what we've come to expect from Chedi standards throughout the years". How unbelievably mistaken I was to assume that! The taste was still recognizable, to kind say it was... nice 'ish... but quite literally EVERYTHING was cold! The variety, despite the independent tent setup for each cuisine has somehow become less? And the tents are so spaced out, you end up looking and wondering if it's worth the hike to go to every tent. The grill section, which is either your closet option, or your furthest depending on where you're sat, was actually the only "hot food" available there! I sincerely felt bad for the chef standing by the grill because almost no one from the seven or so occupied tables visited him. The weather is also not as GREAT as it was recently, so this outdoors setup will be getting unbearable by the day. I understand the competition is now fierce, and people have been exploring other options to see what else is out there so to speak, but this place always had a charm that made it wonderful to dine-in. Yes, it is completely out of a business's control how human behavior can alter unexpectedly, but it also very inexcusable to charge more for less, when you're in the food and beverage industry. Less isn't necessarily the quantity of food (even though we DID get less), but also, and more importantly, the quality... of everything.
An exceptional experience from start to finish. The setting is absolutely beautiful, elegant and peaceful, with a refined atmosphere that makes the meal even more enjoyable. The quality of the dishes was remarkable, with fresh ingredients, perfectly balanced flavors and a careful presentation. The service was impeccable: professional, attentive and warm
Serai Pool Bar at The Chedi Dennis was incredibly helpful, guiding me through the restaurant options and offering thoughtful recommendations with genuine care and attention. Kevin took wonderful care and went above and beyond. He kindly offered me both the pool menu and The Restaurant menu so I could choose freely, which was such a thoughtful touch. Started with a lychee martini which was perfectly balanced and refreshing. For food, I chose the lobster and scallops ravioli, paired with a glass of Ce La Vie wine. Absolutely delicious. Rich yet delicate and beautifully presented. Closed the evening with a classic Negroni which was spot on. The entire experience was delightful. Divine from start to finish. Exceptional service, beautiful setting and flawless drinks and food. Kevin truly made the evening special with his warm, attentive and genuinely caring service. A perfect poolside evening.

A big thanks to Jaseem at The Chedi Muscat for making our dining experience truly special. He welcomed us warmly and served us with care. The food was delicious, and I hope to come back soon to try more Omani dishes. Including traditional Omani bread at breakfast would make the experience even more authentic.”
