Visited Kamat in Al Khuwair and had an overall positive experience with their chaats! We tried three different varieties (including some topped with sev, yogurt, fruits like pomegranate and apple, and chutneys), and they were absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, perfectly spiced, and exactly what we were craving. The presentation was great too, and it felt authentic. To finish, we ordered gulab jamun, but unfortunately, it really disappointed. The outside was fine, but the inside didn’t taste like proper gulab jamun at all—it was off in texture and flavor, almost like it wasn’t freshly made or something was wrong with the dough/syrup. I politely mentioned it to the staff when paying the bill, and they said they’d look into it and took my phone number for follow-up. It’s been over 3-4 days now with no call or message, which was a bit disappointing after such a good meal otherwise. Still, the chaats were standout and I’d go back for those. Solid spot for vegetarian snacks in Al Khuwair—just maybe skip the sweets or double-check on the day.
Legit chaat diner, their Bombay sandwich is perfect! (From a former Mumbaiker.) I will be back again and again. For those new to Muscat who may find this on Google Maps like I did, this is on a somewhat busy commercial street, tucked in a complex with a hotel and a bunch of cafes. Walkable from anywhere in the nearby Khuwair residential quarter with all its alleys.
We came here on our first night in Oman and have now been three days in a row. If we were not leaving tomorrow, we would continue eating here. Some of the best Indian food we've ever had, vegetarian meals, we've never heard of in Europe or the UK. Everyone was very nice and tried to explain the recipes. Thank you for this experience and the warm welcome.
Its not like other Kamath outlets, it don't serve its full restaurant menu. This is basically chat shop. Good chat options. Have dosa and idly. No other bread items like naan or roti. Paav bhaji was good.
This is my favorite place for pani puri and pav bhaji. They also offer a wide variety of other vegetarian options, including dosas and Bombay patties, making it a great spot for anyone who enjoys Indian street food. The dessert selection is impressive as well, with plenty of options to end the meal on a sweet note. If you’re looking for a satisfying Indian vegetarian meal in a relaxed setting, this is definitely a nice place to visit.
