Room 201 – Guest Feedback We chose this hotel for our honeymoon, and I have to say the experience has been deeply disappointing. Upon arrival, the room presented several issues that are frankly unacceptable for a property of this caliber: 1. The air conditioning was completely non-functional. 2. The laundry slip had clearly been filled out and used by a previous guest. 3. Of the two pairs of indoor slippers provided, one was unwrapped while the other remained in its packaging — suggesting the room had not been properly serviced. 4. The bathtub had no water flow whatsoever. We informed the front desk and requested that someone come to inspect the air conditioning. However, no one ever rang our doorbell, and no follow-up visit was made. Walking into the lobby, I genuinely thought we had chosen somewhere on par with Mandarin Oriental in terms of ambiance and design. The aesthetics truly impressed us. However, the quality of the facilities and attention to detail fall far short of what a five-star experience should deliver. We are truly disappointed, and we hope the management will take this feedback seriously.
Nice location, great rooms, good restaurant — but some important issues: Room assignment I requested a quiet room when making the booking. At check-in, I was initially assigned a room overlooking a busy street with traffic. When I asked whether my request had been received, I was told: “Yes, but we don’t have any courtyard-view rooms — let me see what we can do.” Two minutes later, I was offered another room in the same category overlooking a very quiet street with no traffic. I was fully satisfied — but it makes me wonder why this option was not offered from the beginning. Unfortunately, there is another issue that may affect only more sensitive guests: the hotel has a swimming pool in the basement, and the pumps and ventilation systems operate 24/7. This creates vibrations that cannot be heard but can be felt through the mattress. I was unable to sleep after about 3 a.m. every night because of this. Breakfast The breakfast selection is excellent. However, eggs, tea, and coffee must be ordered separately. On the first day, the waiter forgot my order; after waiting 25 minutes, I had to remind them, and what I finally received was not what I had ordered. I thought this was just an isolated incident — but the next day was worse. I waited 35 minutes (!) for my order. A lady seated next to me ordered coffee and left after waiting 25 minutes without receiving it. The service here clearly needs improvement. Shower and maintenance The shower drainage was not working properly — water accumulated and overflowed outside the cabin. I tried calling housekeeping, but the phone was programmed incorrectly: instead of housekeeping, it connected me to the restaurant. I then sent a WhatsApp message to guest relations and received apologies and confirmation that the issue would be fixed. Later, when the room was cleaned, I mentioned the problem again and was reassured it had been resolved. However, when I took a shower in the evening, the same problem happened again, and the phone still had incorrect numbers. I had to complain for a third time, after which a gentleman finally came and fixed the issue quickly. Spa The spa team was lovely — very polite, professional, and genuinely helpful. It was a pleasure dealing with them. However, I do wonder what type of massage training the therapist had. I would strongly recommend taking an advanced course and everything will be 100% perfect!
We just stayed at The Charles Hotel in Munich and honestly had a really great experience. The service was top notch without ever feeling stiff. Every single staff member we interacted with was genuinely kind and helpful. The concierge in particular was incredible — they were able to get us tickets to the FC Bayern match with zero hassle, which made the whole trip even more memorable. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and turndown service was consistently done well. It’s one of those hotels where you come back at night and everything just feels taken care of. Breakfast was excellent. You can order à la carte and/or do the buffet, and both were fantastic. The view from our room was amazing for February, we were lucky to have some beautiful snowfall. Location-wise, it’s hard to beat for Munich. Very convenient to get around, but still feels calm and refined. It’s also just a few minutes’ walk from Marienplatz, which makes exploring the city incredibly easy. Beautiful hotel and even better service.
The Charles is a great hotel in Munich. The service impeccable. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The location is really excellent; a few minutes walk from the old town and interesting sites in all other directions, yet set in a very peaceful place right next to a huge park (old botanical garden). Easy access by foot, car or train. I felt peaceful every time we returned. And the breakfast...super!
We had a wonderful stay at The Charles Hotel. We felt truly welcomed and well taken care of throughout our visit. All the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. A very special thank you to dear Chiara for the amazing care and effort she put into making our son’s 2nd birthday so special. We are truly grateful for her kindness and attention to every detail. It was an unforgettable experience for our family. Highly recommended!
