Craving a beer while shopping in the heart of Munich? Then Augustiner-Bräu München is just the place for you. Located right in the city center, this iconic beer hall combines Bavarian tradition with a lively and elegant atmosphere. One of the first things you'll notice is the staff dressed in traditional Bavarian attire. Dirndls for the women and Lederhosen for the men, which adds so much character and authenticity to the experience. I tried one of their famous beers, and it was absolutely fantastic-fresh, crisp, and exactly what you'd hope for in Munich. To finish, I ordered their ice cream dessert, which was incredibly comforting, creamy, and delicious. The perfect sweet ending after a refreshing beer. The service was warm, the ambiance was vibrant, and the whole experience felt authentically Bavarian. Whether you're a beer enthusiast or simply want to soak in Munich's culture, this place is highly recommended. A must-visit for great beer, traditional charm, and a true taste of Munich.
Big and lovely outdoor beer garden. Even has a rather impressive slide and playground such that it actually looks like you could come here and enjoy a beer while the kids play. The English menu has some rather hilarious (and helpful) instructions on getting your food and drink. O got the Munich Schnitzel and I really liked the light flavor of horseradish and mustard - present but not overbearing. The mixed salad also hit the spot. For beer I went with the dunkel and was very satisfied - malty without an astringency from the darker roasted malt. A bit under the liquid line though.
Very good experience overall, service and food were excellent. Didn't have to wait for a table. Ordered a Schintzel that had mustard and horseradish in the breading, and was very good. The sauerkraut and the beer were very good as well. Typical place were you can have the traditional Munich experience. A bit on the expensive side as expected.
Bavarian style food/Bar! I recommend this place more for summer time when the beer garden is open. Food was very oily and lacked flavor. I personally did not like it however was told that it is the traditional way of making the dishes we ordered. Check it out and decide for yourself if you’re up for an adventure.
This place is huge and delivered the authentic experience we were looking for. Because of the location, it felt like more locals than tourists, which we loved. It ended up being our favorite beer hall. It was also pretty crowded with a Bayern match that evening ⚽️🏟. There’s a host who will find you a table, or you can make a reservation in advance. We were seated right away inside in the hunting lodge around 3 p.m. on a Friday. There was a wait for outdoor seating, and by the time we left, there was a line for everything. We enjoyed a few mugs 🍻 and dove into the Bavarian specialties, starting with speck 🥓. The Südtiroler Speckbrett’l came with slices of South Tyrolean speck, fresh horseradish, bread, and butter. The freshly shredded horseradish was amazing, I’m still craving it. We then shared two types of schnitzel. The Pfefferschnitzel (pan-fried pork with a spicy peppercorn sauce) was rich and flavorful, especially with the house-made spaetzle. It was the best we had on our trip. The Wiener Schnitzel (breaded veal) was also excellent and paired perfectly with the potato salad. Tip: since you’ll likely be having a few beers, finding the WC (toilet) can be tricky. Follow the signs, but walk by the small staircase. You want the large staircase straight past the bar. Bonus: you’ll get to watch them tap a barrel on the way.
