Don't miss out on savoring their signature dish that continues to delight patrons year after year!
Good food. They make both pav and bhaji on coal. U have to wait in queue if there's rush. There's no AC seating so going in summers is a bit rough. The service is very quick and efficient. It is a pure veg place, they serve refreshments alongside pav bhaji. The pav bhaji is a little on the expensive side n gets pretty heavy to eat due to all the butter but worth it. The quality is good, the hygiene is great, ambience is pretty decent and clean. The service is super fast too. One might not go there often but it's a Good place to visit once in a while for a buttery treat.
That is an excellent request! Sardar Pav Bhaji in Tardeo, Mumbai, is an iconic institution, famous for its rich and buttery take on this quintessential Mumbai street food. Here is a detailed review based on its reputation, customer feedback, and specialty: 🧈 Sardar Pav Bhaji (Tardeo, Mumbai): Detailed Review Sardar Refreshments (popularly known as Sardar Pav Bhaji) has been serving its famous dish since 1966. It is located near the Tardeo Junction and is a pilgrimage site for pav bhaji lovers. 🌟 The Specialty: What Makes it Famous The reputation of Sardar Pav Bhaji rests almost entirely on one factor: the butter. * The Butter Factor: Sardar is legendary for using an extremely generous amount of Amul butter in their preparation. The bhaji (vegetable curry) is cooked with butter and then topped with a thick, visible slice or chunk of butter just before serving. This makes the dish incredibly rich, aromatic, and decadent. * The Bhaji (Curry): Unlike many street versions that are bright red from artificial food colour, Sardar's bhaji is often noted for having a more natural, brownish/orange hue. It is made with fresh, mashed vegetables (potatoes, tomatoes, capsicum, peas) cooked slowly on a charcoal fire and features a unique blend of "secret masalas." * Texture: The bhaji is well-mashed and has a perfect, thick consistency that is deeply flavourful beneath the butter. * The Pav (Bread): The pav is equally important; it is generously butter-sautéed (often right on the tawa with the bhaji masalas) and served hot, making it soft, moist, and savory. * Consistency and Legacy: The restaurant has maintained a long-standing reputation for using fresh vegetables and consistent flavor, which is a key part of its appeal and legacy. 🍽️ Food & Taste Profile | Feature | Description | |---|---| | Overall Taste | Rich, savoury, buttery, and flavourful. It is typically less spicy than other street vendors but can be customized with their special garlic chutney. | | Bhaji | Creamy, well-mashed, and has a natural, non-artificial colour. The freshness of the vegetables is often noted. | | Pav | Soft, thoroughly buttered, and slightly crispy on the outside from being toasted on the tawa. | | Menu Variety | Highly focused. The main options are Amul Pav Bhaji, Cheese Pav Bhaji, Jain Pav Bhaji (no onion/garlic/potato), and Khada Bhaji Pav (unmashed vegetables). They also offer Masala Pav, juices, and cold beverages. ✅ Summary and Recommendation Sardar Pav Bhaji is more than just a meal; it’s a Mumbai experience. * Go if: You are a tourist, a die-hard pav bhaji enthusiast, or someone who believes "butter makes everything better." It is the ultimate indulgence for this dish. * Be prepared for: A high price point, a heavy meal, and a wait time to get a table. If you are craving the richest, butteriest, and most famous plate of pav bhaji in Mumbai, Sardar is the place to be.
Pav bhaji was good. It was loaded with cheese and lots of lots of butter. Though they could tone it down just a bit as I personally don't prefer it much. Otherwise its nice. Good quantity and their custard was just sooo good. It hits the right spot after a heavy meal!
The is the oldest and very first pav bhaji to be known in existence. It's on the main road in tardeo very near to Mumbai Central. Sitting area is limited but decent. They have pav bhaji full of butter and a small bowl with mixture of sharp cut onion with a namkeen masala which adds a different flavour to the pav bhaji. Overall the experience was very good and pav bhaji was tasty.
