The discrete entrance to this fascinating museum on Via Alessandro Manzoni opens into an inner courtyard, like so often in this area of Milan where fashion meets culture. The museum features the immense private collection of the wealthy Milanese childless nobleman Poldi Pelozzi who in is testament donated all of his belongings to the Brera Academy. It was opened as a museum in 1881, two years after his death. The building was severely damaged during WWII and then reopened in 1951. We visited a Friday in mid March of 2026. You are easily brought back to the life of Pelozzi via what he collected, a most fascinating story. In my mind one of the best museums of its kind that you can see. There is a small and well sorted out museum shop.

I'd not heard of this place before and only went in because I walked right past it on the way to somewhere else. I'm glad I chanced on the diversion as this is a fabulous museum indeed. It's a multi arts museum ... painting ... sculpture ... glass ... clocks ... armour ... and more which can be a recipe for disaster but this museum pulls it off. I'm a painter and am particularly interested in the paintings and there are some very good ones here! The big names appear including a bizarre painting of Cleopatra by Michelangelo but some of the work by lesser known artists is as good as if not better. If, like me, you enjoy sauntering around galleries to be surprised by the exquisitness of a painting of a cardinal you've never heard of by a painter you've also never heard of then this museum is for you. Stongly recommended.

Poldi Pezzoli was one of the highlights of our trip to Milan. The collection is stunning and beautifully displayed in a historic home, but what really made the difference was the staff. We visited five museums in Milan, and this was the only one where the staff were genuinely friendly, welcoming, and helpful 😇🙏🏻💞 Since we had a baby in a walker who was sometimes noisy and restless, we were worried about the visit, but the staff were kind, patient, and understanding throughout. Their warmth made us feel comfortable and turned a great visit into a truly memorable one. Thanks to their professional and friendly staff 💚Highly recommended!

A beautiful and elegant museum in the heart of Milan. The collection is amazing, from Renaissance masterpieces to decorative arts, all displayed inside a historic private home. The atmosphere is calm and intimate, perfect if you want to enjoy art without crowds. Very well curated and just a few steps from La Scala, worth a visit.

Seems to be a hidden gem. We stumbled upon it when scrolling down the street. There are some very old pairings from the 14-15CE. The variety of the collection is also very impressive.
