Iyo is, without exaggeration, one of the most impressive Japanese dining experiences I’ve had in Europe. As far as I know, it is the only ethnic (non-Italian) restaurant in Milan awarded a Michelin star, and after dining here, it becomes immediately clear why. From the moment you step inside, you are transported into a completely different world. The atmosphere is refined, elegant and immersive — it genuinely feels like stepping into Tokyo, not Milan. Every detail, from the design to the service, is executed with precision and respect for Japanese culture. The food is simply extraordinary. Every dish is built around freshness, simplicity and perfect balance — exactly how Japanese cuisine should be. Nothing is overcomplicated, nothing is forced. Just pure, clean flavours executed at the highest level. The Wagyu beef is exceptional — tender, rich and perfectly cooked. The toro nigiri is absolutely unforgettable, melting in your mouth with incredible depth of flavour. And the nigiri topped with foie gras… truly on another level. A bold combination, yet executed flawlessly — indulgent, balanced and simply breathtaking. What makes Iyo even more special is the ability to surprise you beyond expectations. I had, for the first time, a wasabi ice cream — something I would have never imagined enjoying this much. The balance between spice and freshness was incredible. The basil-forward dessert was equally surprising, intense and beautifully crafted. These are the kind of dishes that leave a lasting impression and redefine what you think you know about flavours. Service is impeccable — attentive, precise, and deeply knowledgeable, without ever being intrusive. Every recommendation feels thoughtful, every detail carefully considered. Iyo is not just a restaurant — it is a complete culinary journey, where technique, ingredients and creativity come together at the highest level. It’s the kind of place that leaves you speechless and makes you want to come back again and again. A truly unforgettable experience and, without doubt, one of the finest Japanese restaurants in Europe.

Can't express how good the experience was at IYO. My partner and I were visiting Milan and saw the reviews and knew we had to go. Everything about IYO is masterfully curated and crafted from the layout, menu, and staff. Every bite was exceptional and had so much flavor and variety. If you ever want to open a location in the United States, please do it in Massachusetts, so I can visit daily. 10/10

I tried the 2026 tasting menu. Hit or miss, not as creative as I expected, and somewhat pretentious for what it is, but decent overall. I was surprised to like the dessert more than anything else. The staff is very courteous.

There’s a reason this place has earned a Michelin star. From the moment you step inside, you’re treated to exceptional service. During our meal, so many servers attended to us that we felt like celebrities. I’ve dined at many Michelin-starred restaurants, and only a handful have truly left me mesmerized—this was one of them. We opted for the tasting menu, and while the food was outstanding, my only real complaint was the pacing. The experience lasted about three and a half hours, and although I understand the importance of savoring each dish, the gaps between courses felt a little too long. That said, everything else was phenomenal. The sushi was exquisite—silky, fresh, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Honestly, it was so good I wished the plates arrived faster. The portions were small, as expected, but surprisingly filling. I also appreciated the thoughtful service. At one point, we considered ordering more, but the staff gently advised us to wait until the end, which turned out to be excellent advice. Overall, it’s easy to see why this restaurant was awarded a Michelin star. The food, service, and experience all lived up to the reputation. I’ll definitely return the next time I’m in Italy.
