I went there based on the Google reviews. I ordered half chicken, crocheted, and polenta frietta. Chicken was marinated with herb and roasted. The chicken was tender and not dry. Potato Crocchette and polenta fritta. Those were plain. If you eat with chicken, it was good combo. Everything sold by weight. My total was 4.70 euro. There is number system and they tried work as fast they could. There is English line. He was very helpful and even warm up the chicken for me. There is no table .

This is absolutely the best chicken I have eaten , In a city like Milan, where trends constantly change and new concepts appear every season, very few places truly stand the test of time. Giannasi is one of them. Since 1967, this humble spot in Porta Romana has focused on essentially one thing: rotisserie chicken. In an era obsessed with reinvention, branding, and social media appeal, Giannasi remains almost stubbornly traditional — simple, direct, and remarkably consistent. At first glance, it may not look extraordinary. There is no luxurious interior, no theatrical presentation, and no attempt to appear fashionable. In fact, it feels more like an old neighborhood food stand than a celebrated institution. But the moment you walk closer, the aroma tells a different story: roasted chicken fat, rosemary, sage, garlic, and the warmth of slow cooking blending into the unmistakable scent of an Italian kitchen. What makes Giannasi special is not complexity, but restraint. The chicken skin is thin and perfectly crisp, without the heavy sweetness often found in American-style rotisserie chicken. The seasoning is minimal yet precise — salt, herbs, and the natural richness of the chicken itself working in complete harmony. Cut into it, and the meat remains tender and juicy. Paired with potatoes soaked in the drippings, it becomes the kind of comfort food that feels deeply rooted in Milanese daily life. This is not food that tries to impress you intellectually. Instead, it quietly expresses one of the most beautiful ideas in Italian cuisine: when something simple is perfected over decades, it becomes timeless. Many visitors come to Milan searching for luxury restaurants, fashion, or design. Yet places like Giannasi often reveal the city’s true character far more honestly. Its importance is not only about the chicken itself, but about what it represents — a way of living that still survives in Italy: respect for tradition, confidence in simplicity, and an understanding that quality never needs excessive decoration. On a sunny afternoon in Porta Romana, sitting outside with half a roast chicken and a bag of hot potatoes, you suddenly realize something: sometimes the best part of Milan is not found on the runway, but in the aroma of rosemary and roasted chicken drifting through the streets.
