Visited the Duomo di Milano last month with my brother and his family, and it was absolutely breathtaking. The architecture is on another level — the detail on the façade alone is incredible. Pictures truly don’t do it justice. Seeing it in person and standing in front of such a massive, historic cathedral was an unforgettable experience. We also went up to the rooftop, and the views of Milan were amazing. Walking among the spires made it even more special. Inside, the cathedral is just as impressive — peaceful, grand, and full of history. Definitely a must-visit in Milan.
Milan cathedral is the only Gothic cathedral in Italy. Looks stunning from outside but requires a ticket to go inside and further requires additional tickets to explore different sections of cathedral including the terrace for panoramic views. It is sad that they have made a complete business out of Milan cathedral as this is the only major tourist attraction in Milan.
A visit to Duomo di Milano is an absolute must when visiting Milan. The basilica is stunning from every angle, whether you're admiring it from the square, exploring the rooftop terraces, or walking through the magnificent interior. We purchased our tickets ahead of time, which I highly recommend. Our tickets included fast-track entry through a separate entrance, which saved us time and made the experience much smoother. I also recommend visiting in the morning, as the area becomes increasingly crowded throughout the day. Our visit began on the rooftop, where we enjoyed breathtaking views of both the Duomo and the city of Milan. From there, we explored the interior of the basilica, which was equally impressive with its incredible architecture and atmosphere. Visitors should be aware that there is a dress code for entry. Requirements can be found on the Duomo's website, but shoulders and knees must be covered, and open-toed shoes are not permitted. During our visit, I noticed that disposable cover-ups appeared to be available, but I wouldn't rely on them being provided. Our tickets also included access to the archaeological area beneath the basilica, where we were able to see original ruins and learn more about the site's history. It was a fascinating addition to the visit. There are several ticket options available, and some include additional areas that we did not see. The beauty, history, and scale of Duomo di Milano are truly remarkable. It is one of the most impressive places we visited in Italy and an experience that is absolutely worth your time.
Visiting the Duomo di Milano was one of the highlights of my trip to Italy. Standing beneath its magnificent Gothic spires, it's impossible not to be impressed by the craftsmanship and history that have shaped this iconic cathedral over nearly six centuries. The interior is breathtaking, with soaring columns, beautiful stained-glass windows, and a peaceful atmosphere despite the crowds. The real gem, however, is the rooftop terrace. Walking among the marble spires while enjoying panoramic views over Milan is an unforgettable experience and offers a unique perspective of this architectural masterpiece. A must-visit landmark that perfectly captures the beauty, history, and grandeur of Milan.
A breathtaking 5⭐ experience at Milan Cathedral (Duomo di Milano)! This is one of the most extraordinary landmarks I’ve ever visited. Standing in Piazza del Duomo, the sheer scale and detail of the cathedral immediately leave you speechless. The exterior is covered in intricate Gothic spires, statues, and carvings so detailed that you could spend hours just admiring the façade alone. Inside, the atmosphere shifts to something deeply serene and majestic. The towering marble columns, vast open nave, and soft light filtering through the stained-glass windows create a powerful sense of calm and awe. Every corner reflects centuries of craftsmanship and history. One of the highlights is going up to the rooftop terraces. The panoramic views over Milan are incredible, and you get up close with the famous spires and statues, including the iconic golden Madonnina shining at the very top. It feels surreal walking among the architecture above the city. Whether you’re interested in history, architecture, or just unforgettable views, the Duomo is an absolute must-visit in Milan. A true masterpiece in every sense!
