One of the strangest and most unforgettable places I’ve ever visited. With full respect to those who are buried here, this cemetery feels less like a graveyard and more like an open-air museum of sculpture and stone art. Walking through Cimitero Monumentale di Milano, you’re surrounded by incredible works of architecture, sculpture, and symbolism. It genuinely feels like an exhibition of visual artists and sculptors rather than a traditional cemetery. As an architect myself, I was deeply impressed by the level of detail, craftsmanship, and artistic expression. It also gives a unique insight into Italian culture and how remembrance, burial, and memory are treated with such artistry and respect. Highly recommended — you’ll be truly surprised.

Amazing, Unbelievable, Unique, Special. I loved doing my morning walk through this park-like cemetery with gorgeous old growth trees (shady) and an incredible mix of sculptures and designs - from very traditional to quite modern. Don't miss the Last Supper sculpture on the western side.

Absolutely mind-blowing place I can’t describe this place as just a cemetery, because it feels like something much bigger and truly breathtaking. Every part of this place is filled with incredible masterpieces and fascinating details. We spent around three hours there, and I still feel like we didn’t manage to see everything. Before visiting, I would definitely recommend taking a map of the place—it makes it much easier to find specific spots and explore everything more comfortably.

Cimitero Monumentale is one of those places that quietly takes you by surprise. It doesn’t feel like a typical cemetery — more like a calm, open space filled with architecture and art that tell their own stories. Every corner reveals something different: a striking sculpture, an unusual detail, a beautifully crafted structure that makes you pause for a moment. What impressed me most was how naturally beauty and remembrance blend here. There’s a sense of dignity in the way everything is designed, a kind of thoughtful artistry that reflects how deeply memory is valued. It’s a peaceful, visually rich place that leaves a lasting impression. A meaningful and memorable visit.

This is such a beautiful cemetery, with a lot of incredible architecture, sculptures and art. It’s very peaceful and well-kept. I felt like these people being remembered are so loved, even now. Some memorials had photos of the deceased, and I liked to imagine what wonderful people they were. I was also surprised to see how multicultural it is.
