I know the name and the ideal is simple. The price is simple. And I have been to many hostels. I don’t think at least one fridge in the entire hostel for guests to access is too much to ask for. Neither is more than 1 public bathroom in the entire building. Other than that of course it filled its role as a bare bones hostel perfectly. Staff was nice
Highly recommend the 8 bed rooms. 6 bed was too small... but I had no issues switching. Very close to the shopping and beach. Location is great! I'd stay there again.
Loved my weekend here! The staff were all so kind and helpful. The little extras available on site (like drinks for purchase, and beach chairs and towels for free) were a delight too. And the whole social vibe here was great, always someone out on the front porch, partying at night and/or relaxing all day. The location is excellent too, two blocks from the beach, easy access to plenty of public transit, and walking distance to so many restaurants, bars, parks, museums, and shops. Great plane and critter watching from the front porch too! Just watch out for roommates who cover the room ACs with their wet towels (it felt warm and damp all weekend I think because of that), and be aware that they don't have any fridges for you to store your (probably very expensive) leftover food!
Great service and location, everyone has been wonderful!! The rooms are cozy and nice decorated. They storage your luggage until 5pm without cost! The location is near from everything!! You have Ross, CVS, 7eleven!! Great location and the best Miami vibe!!
I would not recommend this place if you’re a Black traveler. The treatment here is noticeably different. The attitude and the energy shift the moment you walk in. And it’s not just me — you can ask any Black person who has stayed here. There is a pattern. I came all the way from California — flew 3,000 miles — and even bought a car here to drive back. I showed my boarding pass and all my information. I did everything by the book. And they still made the process difficult, inconvenient, and disrespectful. The room had a sour smell, they asked for a $50 deposit that was never disclosed, and they overcharged on top of that. Instead of hospitality, they gave attitude and resistance. The whole experience felt like they were trying to make it as hard as possible for me to stay here. It was inconsiderate and unnecessary. If you’re thinking about staying in South Beach: Do your research first. Pull up and ask to see the room before you book anything. Make sure the energy is right. Honestly, I recommend staying off South Beach altogether. There are plenty of places nearby where the vibe is better, the prices are fair, and the staff treat you like a human being. South Beach might look good on the surface, but the experience is not worth the disrespect. They really do give Black people a hard time. Period.
