Dear Hotel Management, I would like to express my disappointment regarding our recent stay at your hotel. My wife was part of the Epworth Freemasons hotel package, which allowed us to stay at the hotel on Day 4 after giving birth. Because of this arrangement, I also booked an additional room for my parents and our 4-year-old son. On 25 May, there was a city-wide electricity blackout around 5:00 PM. I understand that this situation was outside of the hotel’s control. However, I was very surprised that the hotel did not appear to have a backup generator or adequate contingency plan in place. There was no electricity or lighting until approximately 4:00 AM the next morning. This created significant stress for our family, particularly because my wife required electricity for her pump after recently giving birth. In addition: -There was no room service available for dinner. -The lifts were not operating. -We had to wait several hours before we could obtain food. -Attempts to contact reception were unsuccessful because we were informed that the phone system was also down. The following day, I spoke with staff to ask whether hotel management would consider any goodwill gesture or complimentary compensation, given that we were unable to utilise most hotel facilities and services. We checked in at 3:00 PM, and the power outage started only two hours later. We considered returning home at night, but we were advised against doing so as our car could potentially become stuck in the car park due to the outage. Despite raising our concerns, I was informed that management had not yet decided on any response. Unfortunately, until now, I have not received any follow-up communication from the hotel. Overall, the experience was extremely stressful, especially given the circumstances surrounding my wife’s recovery after childbirth. While I understand the blackout itself was beyond the hotel’s control, I did not expect a hotel of this standard to operate without backup power, and I was disappointed with how the situation was managed, particularly regarding communication, food availability, and lift access. I would appreciate a response from management regarding this matter.
I recently booked 2 rooms for a quick trip based on the marketing stating it offered airport shuttle service. I called the concierge prior to our arrival and after I had the rooms booked for over a month and was then told they offered no such service. Let's just say my discussion with the floor/assistant manager was a waste of time! Meanwhile it cost my group over $200 in UBER fees in addition to the $$$/room rate. The room rates were fine when I took the fees I would save with the marketed "airport shuttle" service into account. More disappointed in the customer and lack of concern then anything.
The room was truly lavish, offering a luxurious stay. ✨ The staff were exceptionally well-trained and wonderfully soft-spoken, making my visit incredibly pleasant. 😊 Highly recommend this spot! 💯
Loved our stay here. The room was wonderful and not the standard boring box design. Charlie was there to greet us, awesome having a dog at checking. Room was cleaned and replenished while we were out about Melbourne. We took the opportunity to walk around the nearby parks and cathedrals.
I'll start by saying that everyone working at the hotel was very friendly, location was wonderful, and rooms were nice. That being said, this hotel *does not* meet Park Hyatt standards. Every single thing that possibly could have gone wrong with my reservation did - from lost luggage, check-in delays, not crediting loyalty, requests not being met, billing issues, post stay point credits. I had heard from others that this property had issues, but didn't believe it myself until I went. I genuinely don't like posting a review like this, but in this case I think it's important to provide feedback. I would love to stay again, but only if service was fixed in the future.
