I really enjoyed my visit to the NGV. I was truly amazed by the scale, facilities, and the breadth of the collection here. As an Impressionist enthusiast, I was delighted to see works by Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and JP Camille Corot. Even Yayoi Kusama. Melbourne, while a gold mine in the older days, also felt like a gold mine of artistic treasures. The experience could be even more enhanced if more detailed provenance information were available, particularly outlining how the museum acquired specific artworks and whether any pieces were affected by, or connected to, the period of Nazi persecution and suppression. An absolute must-visit and I will go back again. ❤️

One of the best things to do in Melbourne is visit a museum, and the National Gallery of Victoria is definitely one of the most beautiful. The building itself is impressive, and the collections inside are equally stunning. I visited during the RISING Festival, which made the experience even more special. NGV is well known for its world-class exhibitions and remarkable art collections. If you’re visiting Melbourne, don’t miss the Cartier Exhibition, running from 12 June to 2 October 2026. It’s one of the major exhibitions of the year and well worth adding to your itinerary. A must-visit cultural destination in Melbourne.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Melissa at NGV for her outstanding support and professionalism. As a vendor, we have the opportunity to work with many venues and event coordinators, and Melissa is genuinely one of the best we have had the pleasure of working with. From the initial planning stages right through to event day, she consistently goes above and beyond to ensure everything runs seamlessly. Melissa is approachable, proactive, incredibly organised, and always willing to help. Her communication is exceptional, making it easy to navigate venue requirements and logistics well in advance of the event. On the day, her support, attention to detail, and calm, friendly nature create a smooth and stress-free experience for everyone involved. What truly sets Melissa apart is the care and pride she takes in her role. She is not only highly professional and knowledgeable, but also genuinely lovely to deal with. Her dedication does not go unnoticed and makes a significant difference to both clients and vendors alike. TDLR; Melissa is an incredible asset to NGV! We look forward to working with you again in the future. The team at Play Corner

I remember going here when I was a kid and loved it. I went recently with my kids to enjoy the train ride in and experience some culture and gorgeous works of art. My kids loved every moment. Most of the gallery is free but exhibitions are ticketed, which is ok because you can purchase tickets there as well as online. My kids learned about artists and truly appreciated their creativity. We will be going again.

The National Gallery of Victoria is one of the best places to visit in Melbourne. The gallery has an amazing collection of artworks, from classical paintings to modern exhibitions. I really enjoyed the beautiful architecture, the peaceful atmosphere, and the famous water wall at the entrance. The exhibitions are well organised and suitable for all ages. There are interactive areas, helpful staff, and plenty of space to explore at your own pace. It is a perfect place to relax, learn about art, and spend quality time with family or friends. I highly recommend visiting the National Gallery of Victoria if you are in Melbourne. It is free, inspiring, and a must-see cultural destination.
