The Melbourne Museum is an impressive and thoughtfully designed space, and overall a very enjoyable visit. From the moment you step inside, the building itself sets the tone. It was clean, modern, and wonderfully spacious, with plenty of natural light and well considered layouts that make it easy to explore without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. The exhibitions are curated with care and clearly aim to balance education with engagement. There’s a strong emphasis on storytelling, context, and visual presentation, which makes complex ideas accessible without being overly simplified. I particularly appreciated how interactive elements are woven throughout, offering moments of discovery that keep both adults and children engaged. It’s a museum that invites curiosity rather than demanding prior knowledge, which is always a win. That said, while the experience was consistently interesting, it didn’t quite reach the level of fascination I had hoped for. A few exhibits felt more informative than immersive, and I found myself wanting a little more depth or surprise in certain sections. Nothing detracts from the quality of the museum itself, but expectations were perhaps set just a touch higher. The facilities are excellent and are well maintained, easy to navigate, and clearly designed with visitor comfort in mind. It’s a great place to spend a few hours, especially for families or anyone with a general interest in science, history, and culture. A solid four stars out of five and I found it polished, enjoyable, and worth visiting, even if it didn’t completely blow my mind.

This is a must-visit when touring Melbourne. Even though there is an admission fee, it is definitely worth it. The exhibits are very well curated, with so much to see, learn, and experience. Whether you’re interested in history, science, culture, or nature, there’s something for everyone. We spent several hours exploring the museum because everything was so interesting. It’s also great that some exhibits change from time to time, giving visitors a reason to come back and experience something new on their next visit.

As a first-timer in Melbourne, I’m having no expectation while paying a visit to this paid-museum. The building itself is modern and very well-thought I could say. It easily accessible thru metro ands other public transport. The highlight of my visit: - Indoor botanical garden, really remind me of Cloud Forest in Singapore’s Garden by the Bay. - Melbourne Gallery, learnt a lot about the history of the city. From John Batman to Phar Lap the legendary race horse to the evolution of Melbourne’s Cinema. - Dinosaur!! There were many skeletal figure (T-rex lookalike, brontosaurus lookalike, and TRICERATOP) and lots of information about their time. - Wondrous Planet, it took you to many aspect of the earth from Forest, Soil, Volcano, Ice, and other stuff. They spare no expense to built all the decoration and all. It was really trippy. In a good way. - First People, learnt a good deal about Australian Natives people. Wominjeka. Overall a really enjoyable place to visit. I could spend like 5-6 hours just to explore all the things inside. Worth the money and highly recommended to drop by if you visiting Melbourne

The Melbourne Museum was incredible! We were fortunate enough to see the Star Wars LEGO exhibition, which was amazing. You should definitely spend half a day here. It's one of the most beautiful museums I’ve visited in the world.

Rome exhibition was really good. Not alot, but a great selection of items from the Roman empire. $35 gets you entry to the exhibition and museum. Suggested loiter time is 45 mins, but i spent twice as long as enjoying the exhibition. Display is from the imperial era, after the murder of ceasar. Language is very "evil Roman empire keeping slaves", despite numerous mentions of slaves being paid & honoured with marble tablets on their tombs/graves. Some beautiful frescos & travertine murals. The marble carvings are fantastic & testament to the skill that early civilisation possessed compared to the rubbish that passes as art these days. If you can't make it to Rome to see these wonders insitu, this is a small glimpse of why you should go.
