I had a very disappointing stay at this hostel in Melbourne. The place was far from clean — the rooms felt neglected, with dust everywhere, stained sheets, and bathrooms that clearly weren’t maintained regularly. There was even a bad smell in the common areas that made it really unpleasant to spend any time there. To make matters worse, breakfast wasn’t included, which felt unreasonable considering the price. For what you pay, you would at least expect basic amenities, but even things like kitchen supplies were limited or dirty. The fridge was messy and overcrowded, and I didn’t feel comfortable using it. The staff were not particularly helpful or welcoming either. When I raised concerns about the cleanliness, nothing was done to fix the issue. It felt like they simply didn’t care about the guests’ experience. On top of that, the noise level was terrible. People were loud late into the night, and there didn’t seem to be any effort to enforce quiet hours. It made it very hard to get a good night’s sleep. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless significant improvements are made. There are definitely better options in Melbourne for the same price.

i’ll start with the good things about this place. for one, compared to some other hostels, the bathrooms are quite nice, i definitely think they were better than the last hostel i stayed in. the staff are pretty nice here. other than that, it’s not really a great place to stay. the curtain on my bed had multiple stains from something wet which made me uncomfortable at first but really wasn’t that big of a deal. they advertise no smoking or sitting on the steps to the entrance, but there have been multiple nights where groups of 5-10 people are sitting right at the entrance, blocking the door and drinking and smoking. i’ve even seen empty beer cans the next morning. now most of that really doesn’t bother me that much i just wish the rules were a little more enforced. the two things that really turn me away from this place is that sometimes the showers just don’t get hot. they stay cold or will get lukewarm at best, and it’s very uncomfortable. after staying for over a week, i started to get the suspicion that there was a mold problem, as i started to feel sick with all the symptoms of living with mold. itchy throat, coughing, wheezing, sever sinus congestion, runny nose, headache. after being suspicious i actually ended up seeing mold in the showers, in corners and crevices, confirming my suspicions. also read another review that said a roof tile fell out and they saw black mold everywhere. i guess it doesn’t work in my favor either when im on the top bunk, right next to an aircon opening. i wish there was a way for me to get a refund for the remainder of my stay so i can find somewhere else to stay.

I had a super stay at Europa Melbourne! I arrived after a long flight and the staff were really kind : they offered me the chance to take a shower right away, which I really appreciated after traveling. The luggage storage was free, which was very convenient, and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast included in the stay was also great ! The location is fantastic. It’s right in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, making it easy to walk to many restaurants and public transport. I was very happy with my stay and would recommend this hostel :)

Pleasant stay at Europa with easy check in, nice location in the CBD and friendly front desk. Mostly backpackers. The bunk beds have curtain on all sides and charging ports and light which makes it quite cozy. Air conditioned rooms and there’s lockers available with your own lock too.

I expected this hostel to be very different. The atmosphere is quite strange, and if you’re looking to rest or sleep properly, this is not the right place. People are very noisy at all hours. Breakfast is included until 9:30, but if you go around 9:00 there is usually nothing left, no food and often no cutlery, so if you actually want breakfast you need to go much earlier. The living room is very small and it’s always occupied by the same people, so it feels like there are no real common areas. The only alternative is the rooftop, which is constantly full of people smoking. Bathrooms depend on the time of day, but they are often occupied, which is inconvenient. Overall, I do not recommend this hostel.
