This casual spot is a must-visit if you’re into ramen — or even if you’re looking to pop your ramen cherry. It’s small, intimate and low on frills, but very serious about the ramen. Cool, street-style Japanese vibes done right. We went for the Shoyu and Fire ramen, both coming in at under £15, which feels like great value considering both bowls absolutely filled us up. Comfort food at its finest. Because we’re greedy, we also ordered the koji fried chicken on the side… and I’d do that again in a heartbeat. Beautiful. There’s a nice little selection of Japanese drinks, which instantly took us back to our travels in Japan. 🇯🇵 Always a bonus. Worth knowing it’s walk-in only, so you might have to join a small queue, but it’s well worth the wait. Think small neighbourhood hangout vibes - open kitchen, vibrant music, limited seating and a proper street-food atmosphere! Verdict: No fuss, big flavour and great value. A brilliant ramen spot and a real win for the Manchester food scene.
Our server was very nice and helpful. Unfortunately the ramen is very average. Our first red flag was the water glasses upside down on the table that was sticky to the touch. Secondly the menu prices online do not match the prices in the restaurant and lastly the beers are all non-authentic cans of Japanese beers (brewed in UK or Italy) but for very high prices. Very disappointed. On a plus they did play a good selection of 90s hip hop. A note to the establishment, sorry we didn’t feel comfortable confronting you about our experience at the time.
I have eaten here with my husband few times And it’s always top tier when it comes to ramen in the UK Closest to ramen in Japan Always will be back Keep it up! Kampai! Tagay!
This is the best creamiest broth I've ever tasted and is honestly the main reason why I come back here every time! Also, they add roasted tomatoes, which I've never had in a ramen, but they have this amazing unusual 'beefy' texture and flavoursome 'zing' to them. This is the Kinoko ramen, highly recommend if you love a creamy veggie ramen, and they cater to meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans 👍🏼👍🏼
As a tourist visiting Manchester, I had an amazing experience at Ramenshop in the Northern Quarter. The restaurant is small and cozy with a cool, casual vibe and great music playing in the background. It feels very authentic and relaxed. I ordered a bowl of ramen and it was absolutely delicious. The broth was rich and full of flavour, and the noodles were perfectly cooked. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. I also tried the fried chicken side which was crispy and very tasty. The menu is simple but that’s a good thing because it means they focus on doing a few dishes really well. The staff were friendly and the service was quick even though the place was busy. If you are visiting Manchester and love Japanese food, this spot is definitely worth checking out. It felt like a hidden gem in the Northern Quarter and one of the best meals I had during my trip.
