We came here for a nightcap. It was one of the every few bars that was open around 1 in this neighborhood. There is other nightclubs around there that were open, but we wanted something relaxed just for a night cap and this was the perfect spot.
Don’t expect a friendly smile if you’re a tourist, but the experience is of a genuine local Madrid bar. Only sherry, no beer or wine was served while I had lunch. Tapas is simple but tasty and goes well with the sherry. If you want to pretend to be a local and get some great sherry, put it on your list.
Looks nice and historical on the inside. Servers are extemely rude. Many other old historic bars in Madrid with warm, friendly atmosphere and better food and drinks. Despite their reputation, they are nothing special. Go somewhere else.
Iconic, unspoilt institution and an absolute "must see" on any Madrid itinerary. Fabulous selection of sherries stored in barrels on the premises served in historic, atmospheric environment. Dried/ cured meats & other tapas are surprisingly good!
The atmosphere is great, nice service and menu is limited. Wine goes from soft to strong in the menu. I think the strongest pne has 19% alcohol. We tried them all and left drunk. It was really nice in flavor. Also you can smell the oldness of the bar and rust once you are in. The way they take your order is really unique. Definitely must to visit
