A hidden gem. This place does one thing and one thing well. If you want to eat inside. Line up behind the red felt poles. If you want take out go the the door to the right. Once in they will tell you where to sit. You will then need to read the menu on the wall and walk up to the counter and order. Definitely get the El bocadillo de calamares. (Calamary Sandwhich) ask for a lemon wedge and get some olives as well.

We went there for a late lunch (around 16:00) looking for bocadillo de calamares. The place it’s really close to Plaza Mayor, super easy to reach. The place was full and there was a line of people waiting to eat inside. The wait was long, too long for us to wait so we decided to take away. We opted for two bocadillos (one each) and some calamares para compartir 😊 we spent around 17 euros I think. The calamares were amazing, very very well fried and super juicy and soft. I perceived they were not salty enough, but it’s probably just my opinion cause I love very salute food 😝 well really really recommended to anyone around Madrid that wants to try this simple but yet delicious typical food. We had to wait just a few minutes, super quick service.

An absolute must-visit in Madrid! We arrived around 12:30 PM and were pleasantly surprised that we only had to wait a few minutes to get a spot, which is impressive given how popular this place is. We ordered the classic fried calamari sandwich (bocadillo de calamares) and the pimientos, and both were fantastic. The calamari was fresh and perfectly fried, and the peppers were a great accompaniment. Between the excellent food quality and the fair prices, it’s easy to see why this spot is a local favorite. Definitely worth a stop for an authentic taste of the city! 👍

You MUST try the fried squid sandwich from La Campana. This iconic sandwich is typical Madrilenian cuisine, and it’s just so good. Juicy and perfectly-tender breaded and deep-fried squid rings are packed into a small baguette. It’s served right away, so it’s fresh and warm. Top it with lemon juice and—of course—alioli (delicious Spanish garlic mayonnaise), and it’s just divine. Know that this place is always packed. Whether you’d like to dine in and enjoy a vintage Spanish bar experience or get it to go, be prepared to wait in line. But, once you order, the sandwiches come super fast. With fantastic sandwiches that cost less than 5 euros each, you’ll want to come back to this place again and again.
