A tiny, standing-room-only tavern near Plaza Mayor that has specialized in a single fried fish recipe for decades.

Signature

This place is quintessential Madrid: tradiational spanish tapas, made and served the traditional way, with the traditional Spanish crowd. Go for their renowned Bacalao!

I had a piece of fried bacallo and thought it was a bit too oily but tasted pretty good overall, being that I don't eat that type of fish. The croquetas de jamon were pretty good. Overall nothing really wow me. There's no indoor seating and the place was filthy with trash all over the floor. The staff were too busy talking to one another and not that helpful/friendly.

This is such a lovely place! The food is amazing, the staff are friendly, and the location has its own vibe. But oh — did I mention the food? 🙂 We’ve been there twice already and would definitely go again whenever we’re in Madrid.

A must stop in Madrid. Best fish we had on our trip to spain! It was quite busy at lunchtime. There was a little barstool with a sign that said "wait here for service" so don't just jump the line and walk right up like we did! Definitely get the salt cod and croquettes, plus a tinto de verano and cana!

Great and iconic restaurant in Madrid to experience all time classics. The service is fast and friendly and in busy times there is always a short wait but it’s worth it. The bacalao is out of this world, fluffy, light and deep fried to perfection. I would give 5 stars but the price is just too expensive for one piece of bacalao regardless of how good it is.
