Smart casual only when indoors but you can wear casual in their garden or their Nile terrace. If you’re not guests, you can buy a voucher for 500 pounds at the reception. Garden was beautiful and the building is certainly storied (Howard Carter announced the discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb here). They undercharged us by 80 pounds and asked us to pay for that but beyond this oversight, service was great.

Please notice did NOT stay at this place. We visited for drinks. What a fiasco. Really poorly organised. Charged for entry (voucher redeemable against purchase) Couldn’t seat us. Sent us to the garden that had no heaters and a limited menu. We moved back to the main building as it was very cold. Ordered the wine flight and there was no information or order to the wines. No idea what I drank or the order they were put down in. Waiter spilt most of the wine which was unevenly poured. Sure it’s a nice building but there are much better experiences in local restaurants

Spent a couple of peaceful hours in the Royal bar, enjoying the splender of this old colonial building. Amazingly the cost of a Sakara beer (195Egp)was cheaper than the Kings head pub which was 200Egp, I know the one I choose on my return visit to Luxor !!!

Excellent service in a historic setting. The club sandwich was satisfactory, but despite the promise of canapés with our drinks, only a few peanut snacks were delivered. Drinks were satisfying.
