Museum of Ancient Egyptian artifacts, from everyday items to artwork, sculpture & mummies.via Google
Widely regarded as one of the best-displayed museums in Egypt, featuring masterfully lit statues, mummies of Ahmose I and Ramesses I, and artifacts from the Theban tombs.
- Good to know
- Allow 2 hours. Best visited in the evening when the galleries are quiet and beautifully illuminated.

The museum is small compared to others in Egypt but has some lovely exhibits which you can’t see equivalents of elsewhere. Many aren’t as well preserved as others but this doesn’t reduce their historical value. There’s an interesting segment on engineering tools, 2 Mummies you can see up close without waiting in a long queue (photographs are allowed), a beautiful alabaster statue of Amenhotep 111 with the crocodile god Sobek, jewellery, statues, tiles from the temples and suchlike. Many of the items are from Thebes itself which is the ancient name for Luxor. We spent an hour looking around which was sufficient. All the exhibits have clear and concise explanations in English which is an added bonus. The admittance fee is inexpensive and the building wheelchair accessible.
This was a fantastic little museum full of artifacts found in Luxor tombs. Everything g is so well preserved and the history is amazing. Highly recommend.
Prepare your credit card. Is a national museum. You can visit between 30 min to 2 hours. You ça see some mommy, jewelry, statues, and complete your understanding of Egypt.
This museum has a small but good collection. Overpriced at egp 400, like every other site in Egypt. The bookshop has a decent collection of books. But they don't accept credit cards.
Personally I found the place quite underwhelming taking the price of the ticket - 400 EGP - into consideration. Can be well- visited within 45 minutes.
