I would call this restaurant a true hidden gem! It has surprised me in so many ways. We ended up visiting twice because once simply wasn't enough. First, I highly recommend the chicken curry—it’s rich and flavorful, and we ordered it both times. Then there’s the lamb—as someone who loves lamb, I was genuinely thrilled. It’s no exaggeration to say I’ve never had lamb this good in Egypt. We also tried the red sauce spaghetti, which was absolutely delicious. We even finished every last bit of the sauce. You might think my review sounds over the top, but trust me—you won’t regret giving this place a try.
My dad and I found this place while on a walk. The owner and his brother welcomed us inside and prepared delicious Egyptian food. Chicken, stewed beef, salad, soup, rice, grape leaves, and more. All was very reasonably priced. Great service and friendly atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone visiting Luxor.
Friendly service. A good spot for lunch despite not being by the river but it's close enough. They have a German food section in addition to some local ones. The food we had was delicious and in a good portion. Three mains plus vine leaves and three drinks, the bill came to about 400 EGP. They allowed smoking inside so something to be aware of.
The food was awesome and i could tell that the chef loved his dish. Everything was fresh and the taste was just on point not too salty (all the egyptian dish i had was too salty) I couldn’t take any pictures as we were busy eating
I found the lived environment in Luxor very challenging - to be diplomatic - and the last thing I wanted to do was hunt around dusty smoky streets to chance upon a decent restaurant meal. I came across Gerda's on my first day, the food was good, the host could communicate properly in English, and he cared about my experience. I decided to only eat here for the whole week and they did not let me down - which is saying something in this city. Highly recommend if you are in Luxor.
