Stayed 2 nights in shared room 204, ocean view. Location is awesome! I knew it would be loud at night based on other reviews, so no issues there. I think the ocean view side is probably quieter because it isn't right next to the live music bar; however, some intermittent noise at night in the alley (like drunk people, and delivery truck at 5am). Free ear plugs are provided beside the reception office! Bed was comfy! Only 3 lockers in the room with 4 beds, and lockers were small, but I made it work. Bathroom and showers were decent but some doors were tough to close and lock properly. Kitchen is great, and they had pancake mix, toast, eggs, butter, peanut butter, chocolate chips, and coffee all provided for breakfast. Rec room had a longboard, penny board, and boogie boards free to use. Some cheap surf boards to rent too. Staff were friendly and helpful. Parking may be a challenge. It was memorial day weekend so they closed the adjacent parking lot fully for a stage and seating. The adjacent lot has 12h max parking. Nearby streets have 24h pay parking but slim pickings. I got lucky parking 1331 Manhattan Ave parking lot with 24h parking for about $30 a day.
Staying at ITH Hermosa Beach is like staying with family who live at the beach! The staff is fun and personable, and are always hosting neat activities/events. Including beach meditations, nearby comedy shows, and house music night across the street. The rooms all have great windows, giving you the ability to not only let in the sea breeze, but in some cases even see the ocean from your bed! As someone with sensitive allergies, I have had no problems staying here. The hostal itself is very intimate. There are lots of opportunities to meet interesting guests. Hermosa Beach is a cute and authentic downtown. That and the beach, is right outside your hostal door.
This place is the bomb diggity. The beds are comfortable. There's a room to chill and a room to dine. The bathrooms are kept clean. The complimentary breakfast is a huge bonus. The proximity to the beach is tight. They have activities too. One time on a Saturday they cooked us some hot dogs. On a Sunday they gave us drink tickets for some bar nearby. On Thursdays one of the managers, Jess, invites folks to do stand up comedy. I gave it a shot. It was fun. Cool place!
Our experience at the hotel was fantastic. The staff is amazing: very polite, friendly, and kind. The rooms are great for the price, and the views are truly beautiful. The place has a very pleasant atmosphere, and the breakfast is really good. Overall, a 10/10 stay.❤️
I loved my stay at the ITH Hermosa Hostel this past weekend. The staff were fantastic and helpful. The social atmosphere of the kitchen and dining areas is what staying at a hostel is all about. Talking for hours around the dining room table is like being at college or being with family during the holidays. The location cannot be beat, a one minute walk to the sand of the beach, and another minute to the waters edge. Very safe area, no concerns. It is an entertainment area, so it can be louder than some people would like, for me I didn't mind. Being so close to the vitality of the area was energizing for me. Breakfast you make for yourself, which is nice so you make it how you like. There was pancake batter(and topping), eggs, and fruit. You clean up after yourself, which is being civilized in shared common areas as expected in a hostel. If you want a maid, stay at a stuffy luxury hotel for 10x the price, stay here to met interesting people from around the country/world (the Aussies staying here were a hoot). I gave 5 stars for the ratings, but I would have given more stars if it was possible. It was a positive, unforgettable stay.
