My best friend and I, 49 and 50 years old, were celebrating 30 years of friendship and decided to take a chance and stay at Orange Drive Hostel, and we are SO happy we did. This place is such a gem. The location is absolutely perfect and the old Hollywood mansion has so much charm and character. Everything was incredibly clean, comfortable, and welcoming. The biggest shout out goes to Kyle at the front desk, who is honestly one of the best people we have ever encountered while traveling. He is an absolute rockstar at his job and genuinely cares about every single guest. His kindness, warmth, and attention to detail made our stay so special. I even nicknamed him “My Sweet Ginger” and appreciated the amazing photos he took for me in front of the iconic Marilyn picture. 😉 Also, everyone needs to check out the vintage phone booth inside the mansion and make a phone call from it. Such a cool little experience that made us smile. We felt so taken care of during our stay and would come back again in a heartbeat. Thank you for making two lifelong friends feel so welcome while celebrating such a special trip together.
A great place to stay right next to the Holly Wood Walk of Fame and Dolby Theatre!!! Amazing property with a very cosy homely feel. Met some fellow travelers, cooked some meal and shared, great stay overall. The place is blessed with a nice garden in the front, another one on the side for coffee or breakfast or just enjoy the greenery. Would love to come back and would highly recommend this very well maintained place.
The location is good. It’s close to many attractions, stores, and the subway station. The front desk is nice and welcoming. They offer clean bedding, towels, and also towel cleaning/changing services if you’re having a longer stay. The kitchen is clean, fully equipped (for a traveler), and convenient. You may find some free food from former travelers haha. I had a good time staying here. I recommend it to solo travelers!
The hostel is on a relatively quiet side street, just one block from Hollywood Blvd. The building has a lot of charm, and there is a quaint outdoor patio, and nice front yard area. I had a pleasant experience with the hostel staff, and they stored my luggage without any issues before check in and after check out. There was a kitchen area, where there were multiple fridges, a stove, microwave, and cooking supplies. However, the room could use some upgrading. There is no AC/heat unit in the room, nor is there a thermostat. The only way to change the room temperature is to walk to the front desk and tell the staff member. Except the reception is not open 24 hours. They usually leave at 10 PM on weekdays and 12 AM on weekends. I did get a little cold in the middle of the night (I visited in mid March), but the room closet had a spare blanket, so I was able to make do. Also, I stayed in a room with a private bathroom, where they do not provide any shampoo or shower gel/soap, although they do provide hand soap for the bathroom sink. But the sink is so small that you can't even use it properly. The room also did not have a TV, nor a safe. I probably wouldn't stay again, and most definitely not during the summer, when the room will be blazing hot with no option for AC adjustments
I stayed here during my solo trip to LA, and it was a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the rooms offered great value for the price. The location is surprisingly quiet while still being very close to the lively parts of the city. I also appreciated the laundry and kitchen facilities — everything was convenient and well-maintained. Overall, a great place to stay.
