UPDATED. The hotel room itself was nice and was clean. The location was great and we enjoyed an early morning hike to Griffith park a couple of times while staying here. The front desk staff was helpful during check-in and helped carry our bags to the room. The walls were pretty thin and during the evening the restaurant and street down below got quite busy and there were a lot of loud noises. I don't recommend it if you are looking for a quiet romantic getaway. I was not bothered by the noise since I live next to a busy highway and am used to having loud noises, but if you aren't used to it you may have difficulty sleeping. Our room had an in-room minibar available. My spouse and I looked over the prices and decided there was nothing we wanted that badly. After checking out and getting home I realized there was a $20.85 charge on my credit card. After contacting the hotel they told me it was for the minibar and gave me an itemized bill. When I responded to them disputing the charges since neither my partner nor I touched a single thing in the minibar they stopped responding to me. Update: I filed a dispute with my credit card and the hotel responded after filing the dispute apologizing and saying a refund would be issued. I did improve the rating since I thought this would be more of a he said she said thing, but be wary.

I reserved this hotel for myself, my son and his girlfriend, and my family visiting for my son’s USC graduation. I chose it because of a how wonderful my experience was at the restaurant in Christmas Eve a couple of years ago. Our recent graduation experience was incredible at Cara from the beginning of making my reservations with Bryan, to the check-in with other staff I had not yet met, to the restaurant staff who are all so incredibly professional and good at what they do! The rooms were lovely and clean, the food was divine, there are different areas to hang out in which are all lovely! I cannot recommmend this place high enough! The ambiance, service, rooms, food, food presentation, attitudes of the staff all exemplary!

Stayed at the Cara 3 nights. If you like to drink and be up all night this is the place for you. This is the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in I have stayed at many all over the US. The location is good. The front desk was helpful . But none of that can make up for loss of sleep. I also have complaints about the bed it was like sleeping on an inversion table. I had to sleep with my head at the opposite end of the bed than my huband, just feel like the bed balanced out. I am not an overly fancy person with to high of an expectation. I like sensibility and this hotel is not that.

The rooms get a star. The bathroom was nice and the overall aesthetic was pretty. But the bed frame and furniture showed signs of wear, mostly because they were white. But....THIN THIN THIN walls ceiling and door. This is not a place you go to sleep. It is a place you go to be seen. The restaurant pumps music all day and all night. It’s obnoxious but necessary to drown out your neighbor’s voice or TV. The restaurant tables are be a few feet from your front door on the bottom floor. During my stay a baby screamed in the court yard for three hours upon my arrival which was problematic because all I wanted was to sleep. The inner courtyard layout others hotel makes it impossible to relax while laying in your bed. The bathroom window backs up to a parking. So when I opened it to let out the humidity from the shower I was met with the bumper of a random car. The room service charge of a filet migon, brocollini and boxed mashed potatoes was $110. I would take a walk to one of the other local eateries for a better meal. Check out my photo of $65 shrimp pasta that was delivered cold to my table. I was also double charged for an $8 water that I brought from my room mini bar to the restaurant despite me asking if it was ok to bring it to my table.

This review is to give a huge shoutout to Max, who was an absolutely amazing bartender in the front room bar space and made my birthday so special yesterday! His service was exceptional from start to finish, and thanks to his great energy and vibes, we ended up staying for hours. Thank you, Max, for helping create the perfect birthday celebration! The live music was a beautiful touch! Before that, we also enjoyed brunch, and I have to say—the property itself is stunning. It truly feels like a little European getaway right in the city. We’ll definitely be coming back!
