Everything about Bungalow Hostel was amazing. The rooms are incredible, very clean, and comfortable. I also really liked the fact that the bathroom is inside the room and shared with only a few people — it makes the experience much more convenient and comfortable. The people who stay at the hostel are very open, friendly, and easy to connect with, which makes it a great place to meet new people and make friends. The staff is also extremely attentive and helpful. Abril gave me all the support and guidance I needed to extend my reservation, and I really appreciated her kindness and professionalism. Kiki is also an incredibly helpful and attentive person, always interacting with guests and making everyone feel welcome. Simply the best hostel in Los Angeles. I will definitely come back again and again.

Room Key Given to Occupied Room, Phone Stolen, No Help This was actually our second time staying at Banana Bungalow. Our first stay was positive, which is why we came back. During that first visit, the staff were friendly and welcoming, especially Kiki, who was extremely nice. There were social events like ping pong, karaoke, and a $15 dinner with all-you-can-drink, the room was clean, and we had no issues. Another staff member whose name I unfortunately don’t remember was also very kind and helpful. Unfortunately, our second stay was the complete opposite. First, Claudia at the front desk gave us a key to a room that was already occupied. My boyfriend and I opened the door thinking we were entering our private room, only to walk in on a strange man who was already staying there. That is a serious security and privacy failure. The area immediately outside the property also felt unsafe, with homeless encampments around the property and no visible security guard on site. For a hostel/motel in that location, guest safety and property security should be taken much more seriously. Later that night, while I was taking a shower, my boyfriend was right outside our room reading paperwork and using his phone. Within about 30 minutes, his phone disappeared. We searched everywhere and could not find it. About 30–45 minutes later, we were able to track the phone to Hollywood and Vine, roughly four blocks away from the hostel. Claudia was working when the phone went missing. The next morning, April was at reception, and when we asked for help reviewing the security camera footage, she was dismissive, unprofessional, and refused to help in any meaningful way. She actually said, “I can look, but I don’t have to right now,” even though we were trying to recover a stolen phone and understand what happened on the property. She said she was working reception, but from what we could see, she was just sitting there waiting for people to come in and simply did not want to check the cameras. I would strongly warn other guests to avoid staying here unless management makes serious changes to how they handle security, room access, and guest complaints.

I chose this hostel due to the indoor secure parking. Arrived on a Saturday night, 5/16. Young front desk guy, friendly checkin, explained they needed to keep my car keys so they can tandem park cars to accommodate more people. Later I saw him move my car. No big deal. I needed something out of it and realized he didn’t relock it! No cool! Fun bbq and karaoke later. I did see the bartender giving several employees shots. I do think employees shouldn’t be drinking while taking care of guests. Oh and all it was OK. So many friendly guests!!

Front desk staff is superb. The rooms have a nice kitchen and bathroom set-up for 4 (female dorm in my case). The place is tidy and the ambient is kickback and welcoming. Quaint breakfast bar with oatmeal, fruit, coffee, and, toast for guests.

really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The location was excellent – just a short walk from the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Dolby Theatre. Our room was clean and had everything we needed for our 3-night stay, including a fridge, microwave, and safe. The bathroom was spacious as well. The only thing I didn’t like was the breakfast. You could only choose three items, and I would have appreciated having fresher options like vegetables or eggs instead of just toast with peanut butter and porridge. Overall, it was a comfortable and convenient place to stay.
