Fantastic dining experience for a birthday celebration. The service was impeccable, food & drink was outstanding & the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. The staff were extremely patient, guiding us through all the courses, suggesting beautiful wine pairings & offering to take many pictures of our party to commemorate the celebration, which was highly appreciated. They really made our visit special & we will remember it for a long time.
Protein portion is very small, out of 7 dishes, 3 dishes are deserts, I think that’s just too much sweet for a 2 stars Michelin tasting menu. Also between the first and second deserts, I have been waiting for about 30 minutes. It’s outrageous. So I end up skip my last desert dish. And that is the first time I skip my Michelin dish. There is room for improvement on the service side. I personally is not a fan for the meat fruit as I had meat pie before which was more versatile than the meat fruit. Frog and porridge is also mediocre in my opinion as the fried frog leg is so tiny you can not even feel its existence. The only dish that is good is the duck main dish. But overall I don’t think the food and service together are not worth the price you are paying compared to other 2 stars Michelin restaurants at London. You can other better choices.
Went to Dinner by Heston Blumenthal last night and it really did live up to expectations. We didn’t do the tasting menu (the whole table has to commit, and we prefer ordering different things), but the à la carte more than delivered. The restaurant itself is spacious and relaxed — definitely on the smart-casual side for fine dining. It feels polished but not stuffy, which makes it easy to enjoy the experience. The food highlights for us were: the flesh and rice, which was incredible, the duck, which was also excellent, and the tipsy cake, which is every bit as good as people say — rich, comforting, and the perfect ending. Service was exactly what you’d expect: attentive, smooth, and well judged throughout. Would absolutely go back, especially if you want exceptional food without the whole ultra-formal fine-dining vibe.
Love this place, came back again! Had an amazing view of Hyde Park from where I was seated. Meat fruit is always lovely here, would get that over the truffle (though that was also nice). The duck was the best my dining partner ever had, and the cod was not bad. The mashed potatoes surprised me, as I enjoyed them much more than the triple cooked chips. Tipsy cake is always a winner! And the millionaire's tart at the end was a treat. The staff did a good job when we had a celebration here. But on one occasion that I've been there, a supervisor appeared to be dishing out corrections/advice to multiple staff, which I could hear throughout the meal - would suggest that corrections be given out of earshot of guests, and ideally in private.
That was our second visit, after about 15 years. I originally booked A Journey Through History menu, which they later informed me would not be available for our weekday lunch (with apologies ). So imagine our delight, when on the day of our lunch, they offered to cook it for us, if we wish. Truly amazing food, drinks and service! 🙏❤️
