I'll be honest: I found Portugal somewhat underwhelming until I stayed here. This hotel completely changed my experience of Lisbon. In fact, I found myself thinking that I would return to the city just to stay here again or for a special occasion like a destination wedding. When I later learned that the property had received Michelin recognition, everything clicked. The level of thought, care, and attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the guest experience. The service is exceptional, the rooms are stunning, and the hotel's history adds another layer of meaning to the stay. I especially appreciated learning how elements of the original building were preserved and thoughtfully incorporated into the property's design. It feels like a place that respects its past while delivering a thoroughly modern luxury experience. One thing that genuinely stood out was how intentional every detail felt. From the complimentary wine experience led by a certified sommelier (a nod to the building's former life as a wine school) to the guided hotel tours that introduce guests to the property's history and amenities, nothing felt random or performative. Every experience had a purpose and a story behind it. I also have to admit that before arriving, I was amused by the hotel manager's passionate responses to some of the negative reviews online. After staying here, I understand it a bit better. The team has clearly invested an incredible amount of effort into creating something special, and it shows. This is not the least expensive hotel in Lisbon, but it is one of those rare properties where the experience justifies the price. For me, Lisbon became worth visiting because of this hotel. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable luxury experience.

Absolutely recommended! This small boutique hotel will make you feel like home while in Lisbon, service is rather discrete but attentive, rooms are carefully decorated and the whole atmosphere is just so soothing. Big thanks to everyone for their understanding and willingness to help. The in-house restaurant is very good! and more than fairly priced, tried some artichoke soup I believe with truffle? So creative. Only weak point I’d say is the lack of wellness / pool area….

Palácio Ludovice Wine Experience Hotel, Lisbon (opened 2022) is abeautifully restored mansion-turned-hotel, thoughtfully designed and generally excellent. I would have rated it 5/5 overall, except for a notably poor breakfast experience on one morning. Ratings Location: 5/5 Amenities: 5/5 Lobby: 4/5 Room: 4/5 Bed & pillows: 5/5 Bathroom: 4/5 Toiletries: Portus Cale Towels: 5/5 Shower pressure: 5/5 Breakfast: 1/5 (inconsistent experience) Restaurant: 5/5 The hotel sits right next to the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara. It occupies an entire block, with the surrounding streets—especially Travessa da Cara—coming alive at night. Our second-floor room featured high ceilings and overlooked the atrium, where the restaurant sits below. The long hanging lights and greenery create a warm, open atmosphere. The room door is heavy and solid, adding to the sense of restoration. The bathroom is well-finished but slightly limited in counter space. Shower pressure from the handheld unit is excellent, almost strong to a fault. Small details—like the slightly short toilet seat and occasional lingering drip from the faucet—are noticeable but minor. The gym has a striking vaulted ceiling, though I didn’t use the facilities. A 5:30pm wine tasting led by a licensed sommelier (limited to 12 guests) was a highlight—informative, intimate, and well-run. Breakfast is generally very good: buffet selection plus made-to-order eggs. Cappuccinos are served in thick cups or tall glasses, and items like the honeycomb and chia seed pudding stand out. However, service during our last breakfast on a Saturday fell far below standard—slow, disorganized, and inattentive, with significant delays in both ordering and clearing tables, which detracted sharply from the experience. Dinner (steelite tableware) and the bar (Riedel stems) were both excellent and consistently well-executed. Thanks for the afternoon egg tarts!

We had a room on a corner in front - 2nd floor, I think. The view of the park and beyond to the castle was beautiful and despite being on a busy street, we heard no street noise due to the special precautions they take with the windows. The room was absolutely stunning, clean and very comfortable. Could've used a larger wardrobe but probably an impossible addition due to the huge windows and historic features. Service was great. Pillow menu was one of the best ever. Breakfast was superior. No complaints.

Really enjoyed our stay. The room was lovely. It had windows looking into enclosed courtyard with restaurant, but soundproofing was excellent. It was actually pleasant to open the windows to hear Fado performance while relaxing in room one evening. Breakfast was wonderful - buffet plus egg dishes. We also had dinner in the restaurant one evening and it was very good. You can sign up for a complementary wine tasting. Location is great near large terrace looking out over the city. Small but well-equipped gym. Very attractive building. Friendly staff accompanied us to parking garage.
