Very fresh seafood and offers a good glimpse into the gastronomic adventure that Lisbon has to offer. The seafood platter is great for sharing with very fresh prawns, crabs, oyster and barnacles! The pork jowl was nice and tender which melts in the mouth, the unique taste of the pork and gravy is a good pairing. The dish also came served with delicious potatoes that are cooked in the same pot so it soaks up the savoury sauces. Roasted octopus was done to perfection, nice and tender with no hints of being overcooked. The surface has a light char giving good crisp and flavour. Great selection of desserts, the 70% chocolate mousse is extremely dense and rich with hints of sea salt and chunks of chocolate chips within. This is mostly dark chocolate so this may not appeal to folks who prefer traditional sweets. The beer pudding is something very unique. Similar texture to custard but much richer and denser almost like a jelly. This caramel tasting dessert melts in the mouth but can be quite overpoweringly sweet. A good selection of unique local beers too.
We loved the food. High standard and very refined especially given the size of the restaurant. It's a nice location but the it's definitely a big restaurant and it was on the noisy side. Unfortunately the service standard was a bit sub standard. Not terrible bad but one could see that waiters were not very motivated and quite disengaged (which is definitely more of a management and training problem).
We listened to our host and made a reservation for dinner in this historic and luxurious cervecería. The ambience is perfect to enjoy some of THE best food in the city. You can try a local's choice of percebes if you are daring. The steak and seafood are second to none, even the sautéed vegetables should have their own review. And make sure to try the Trindade's beer!
I'll start with the biggest drawback of this place: the service. The first issue was the 10-minute wait before anyone showed us to a table. It wasn’t very busy, and other staff members were milling around the room. All it would have taken was for someone to come over and tell us we had to wait for someone else who would be there soon. Another service-related issue was the waiter who started taking our order and then, halfway through, decided he needed to ask someone something and disappeared. Another waiter stepped in, and I had to repeat my order, but this person was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere and decor are truly excellent. The food itself was delicious, the octopus was excellent. I felt the desserts were a bit lacking compared to the savory dishes. Nevertheless, it's worth stopping by for something good.
Trindade was a great spot for a relaxed and tasty meal. We tried the charcoal-grilled octopus, shrimp, fish and many more, all were excellent, beautifully cooked, full of flavor, and clearly made with quality ingredients. The octopus was especially memorable. Paired with a refreshing Vino Verde, it made for a really enjoyable lunch experience. Service was also perfect. Highly recommended!
