We visited on a weekday, which was perfect because it wasn't overly crowded. Be prepared to spend some time here, there is a tremendous amount of information to read, and the exhibits are packed with fascinating artifacts and displays. You could easily spend hours exploring everything the museum has to offer. My fiancé and I especially loved the Fallout exhibit since we're huge Fallout fans. It was one of the highlights of our visit! We also enjoyed the interactive experiences throughout the museum, which made the exhibits even more engaging. There's a gift shop on-site as well, and we ended up picking up a few souvenirs before leaving. Admission also includes access to two additional exhibits, making it an excellent value. If you're interested in history, science, or just looking for a unique experience in Las Vegas, I highly recommend visiting!
A super interesting and unique museum. If you're keen on military history or just want to learn about science and what is possible with some ingenuity and dedication, I would highly recommend the Atomic Testing Museum. There are a lot of great exhibits, including replicas of different devices, some hands-on learning areas, and even a simulation theater with amazing archival footage. The temporary Fallout exhibit was also a blast (pun intended). Bonus for airplane fans: the museum is in the airport flight path and you'll get a great view of planes as they fly directly over the entrance. Give this museum a try, it's a welcome diversion from the usual Strip madness.
This place is absolutely awesome. Truly a hidden gem of things to do in Vegas. You dont even have to be a nerd, such as myself, to enjoy. Lots of cool and very interesting exhibits. I highly recommend this museum to everyone.
We've lived in the area for over 20 years but never been to the Atomic Testing Museum. We'll, we finally got down there and the effort was well worth it. We've been to the Atom Bomb Museum in Albuquerque several times. That place is focused on the development and building of our nuclear weapons. The Atomic Museum is focused on the testing and refinements of those weapons and it's very interesting. They have some interesting exhibits showing how and what the testing was accomplished. They have quite a few actual pieces that were used and it's telling that they are pretty digital technology. Some tings are big and clunky but reflected the technology of the time. They have a full size replica of The Gadget, Fat Man device and an 8 megaton nuclear weapon. It's well worth the time and expense for those looking to see an integral part of the Las Vegas and Nevada's history.
We only visited the gift shop so my daughter could buy her boyfriend some gifts. They had a lot of cool things. She bought him a metal beaker shaped drink bottle, a Fallout Guy t-shirt, and a challenge coin. She definitely wants to bring him next time so they can see the museum together.
