Beautiful property that's also complemented by the excellent service. Location of the hotel is perfect right beside the river. It's also walking distance to major tourist locations which was great. But what's most important is the service provided. From the bell boy, the concierge, breakfast staff everyone was very attentive and friendly. Perfect place for couple and family alike.
The finest Ritz-Carlton stay I’ve had. Well-deserved three Michelin keys. This property excels in anticipatory service—solving problems before you realize they exist, which is the defining characteristic of 5-star hotels (but many so-called "5 stars" actually fail to do so). The Space: Stunning architecture that blends international luxury with traditional Ryokan intimacy. The transition from the street to the lobby past the waterfall is world-class. Room (Grand Deluxe Kamogawa River View): Quiet, spacious, and features floor-to-ceiling views of the river. If you value privacy and calm, the river-facing rooms are worth the premium over city-view options. Anticipatory Touches: The level of detail is unmatched. - Taxi Cards: They provide curated cards for major attractions with maps, travel times, and the hotel address in Japanese for the return. - Spa Logistics: Locker rooms are stocked with high-quality wet swimwear bags—a small but significant detail often missed at this price point. Service & Dining: Check-in was flawless; the team greeted me by name at the curb and conducted a private in-room check-in. The Japanese breakfast is a must; they proactively managed the reservation during arrival.
One of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed in. The views over the river and cherry blossoms were stunning, and the design felt both artistic and effortlessly cool. We’re travelling around Japan with our 5-month-old, and the staff were incredibly considerate and warm. They even provided a sterilising machine for our baby’s bottles, which made a huge difference. The team also gave excellent restaurant recommendations and kindly handled reservations for us. The service throughout was exceptional—we couldn’t fault a thing.
Amazing suites for families that offer quiet, calm vibes and tasty treats for tired tourists returning from sightseeing. I loved the cozy beds, soaking bath salts and room service! They are super kid friendly and offers all mini activities for kiddos. Ritz Carlton Kyoto took care of us despite room reservation issues (my fault). Thank you Tsutomu Hirono and Naoko from the front desk who helped troubleshoot my separate room bookings over my week long stay and seamlessly transferred our luggage between checkouts and check ins.
The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto|Google Review(English) The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto was exceptional in every way. The hotel feels calm, elegant, and deeply connected to Kyoto’s atmosphere. The river views are beautiful, and the rooms are designed with incredible attention to detail — I kept saying “すごい…” when I walked in. Service was warm, thoughtful, and perfectly timed. Breakfast was amazing, especially the Japanese dishes. A peaceful luxury stay that truly captures Kyoto’s charm. I would love to return.
