One of the best experiences I've ever had. The rooms were of traditional Japanese style. The skincare and toiletries provided were top notch. The in- room teas were really good. It was a truly luxurious experience. Even though you have an onsen in your room, try to visit the public onsen as well. The staff were very polite and even accommodated a vegetarian request for my sister. We also had to leave early the next day, so the staff packed us a bento to eat in the morning before leaving.
this ryokan near kameoka is located along the road but generally quiet and private . Place is best accessible by car so you can get around freely - note there are no amenities around the place and premises is locked by 10 pm nightly . The onsen has male and female ones both indoors and outdoors .We booked a room with our own outdoor onsen -note it has not much of a view though ie there is nothing pretty you can see from the onsen in the room . Facilities aside, service were also average and at times rather inconsistent - eg they will forget to bring tea to the table and had to be reminded or they forget to light the little stoves to boil the soup during the meal or they forget to place the chopsticks on table after serving food . One of the days they took away the entire set of shampoo/conditioner/bath soap from our room when cleaning but did not replace it . So we had a rude shock when we were about to wash ourselves before going into onsen when we got back in the evening . On another day they left a cleaning cloth in our toilet . We were given a tray of sushi for supper during 2 out of the 4 nights we were there. But the other 2 nights we had nothing - we simply couldn’t figure the rationale (!) other than a reflection of inconsistent service . The staff were mostly polite and do their best but they would do better with more training to ensure consistent service and pay attention to details of their guests .
The most amazing ryokan! Lovely staff, very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend the kaiseki dinner. The public onsens are separated by gender, but the personal room bath tubs are fairly sizable too. They provide nice robes for lounging and arrange your sleeping mattresses for you. Very quiet and peaceful place
One of the best ryokans we stayed. We had omakase dinner and Japanese breakfast. The food is very good. Room, onsen is clean. The whole place is very artistically designed. Service is superb, filled with Japanese hospitality. We had a good time there. Thank you for the good service and experience. Highly recommended
High Privacy location and layout for enjoying the holiday. Private Japanese bath tub and excellent quality meals can surely make you take a good rest. Though some insect appeared in the room and the open space bathroom. It is reasonable as it located in a forest.
