Sick venue! Intimate setting so you can see the musicians right up close. Saw Ayano Ishiguro and the Cosmopolitans tonight. Band was awesome. The sound was mixed well which made it even easier to appreciate the music. The staff were also super sweet :)

Shop no longer is a live band kinda thing, now it is a Beer & SAKE place to chill out with food. I did ask the boss about the brownish container earthen clay and he said those are strong liquor that is made from rice. Whoever visits them should try. Do note they don't have an English menu but it will be fun to explore.

I love to seek live music when I travel and lucky for us they had a show on the Thursday evening we had available. The owner welcomed us and used his best English to describe the occasion (the clubs anniversary and the singers birthday). Top notch musicians and a versatile set! Definitely a highlight of our trip and the ticket/cover fee includes two bar tickets redeemable for food or drink. If I return to Kyoto I will certainly make time to enjoy the Rag again.

The most amazing Japanese live music night! Mariko Saiai was brilliant, the club is super cool, the people were enjoying themselves so much. The man sitting by the same table made effort to explain to us some of the songs lyrics. A musical highlight of an unforgettable trip to Japan.
