We attempted to come here 3 days in a row, the first time we went into the wrong restaurant, the second was the day this place is closed, and on the third we were finally successful- it did not disappoint!! We came at about 6:15pm and luckily their table for two was free at that moment, however a queue seemed to form pretty much immediately after this. They keep a small menu with 2 types of gyoza and a selection of side dishes. We ordered one of everything followed by a second round of gyoza, plus a round of beers. Everything was absolutely delicious, and came really quickly. The staff are helpful in explaining which dips to use with which gyozas. the
Japanese craft at its best Gyoza Hohei is a perfect example of the Japanese philosophy of mastering one specific craft. It is a tiny and cozy spot where the focus is entirely on the quality. The gyoza are different in their own way; it is hard to pinpoint exactly what makes them so special, but they are absolutely delicious. The serving size and the sauces are spot on. Even though we were full, we ended up ordering more. Note that there is a mandatory one plate and one drink minimum per person, but go for it blindly because you will definitely want more anyway. 100% recommended.
These gyozas are damn good!!!! I recommend you try both the garlic & scallion as well as the ginger option as recommended, and then order more from there! Super fresh, perfect crispness, and the sauces add the best flavor! Also the lemon sours are GOOD.
Incredibly tasty Gyoza. Couldn’t choose a favourite. Friendly, energetic service. Staff even had a selfie stand for our obligatory “selfie” 🤩 Great location amongst all the buzz of the city and even though small, the atmosphere within the restaurant was awesome and made even more enjoyable because of this. Highly recommend and would definitely return.
You have to eat here! The fresh gyoza are soft and crispy, flavourful, and amazing with the recommended dipping sauce (either their own miso ginger or soy). We had a short wait as the place was packed when we arrived, but their booking system on the tablet outside was great and the ticket you get has a qr code that show the estimated wait time. Once inside the staff were welcoming, happy, and efficient. The food is fast, even though everything is cooked to order. We had the pickled cucumbers with sesame oil, a couple of rounds of the ginger gyoza and the leek gyoza, plus some drinks. Each paired great with the sauces. It’s amazing how the sauces made the flavour even better. We could have kept eating these all night, they were so delicious.
