During my recent trip to Kyoto, I stayed at Ace Hotel Kyoto and generally had a very pleasant and comfortable experience. First and foremost, the accessibility from Kyoto Station was outstanding, making commuting highly convenient. The hotel’s proximity to all the places I wanted to visit made it the perfect base for my itinerary. The guest room was exactly as expected—cozy, remarkably quiet, and free from any noise, providing the perfect environment to unwind and relax after a long day. I was particularly impressed by the modern, stylish cafe in the lobby and the beautifully landscaped garden, both of which elevate the hotel's premium atmosphere. The restaurants directly connected to the lobby also offered a high standard of quality, allowing for wonderful dining experiences without having to step outside. Overall, I was deeply impressed by the hotel’s hardware and space design. However, compared to the flawless facilities, there was a slight disappointment regarding certain aspects of the service. The interaction with the invitation (front desk) staff during check-in felt somewhat rigid, leaving an impression that was not particularly welcoming. Furthermore, the service attitude of the owner and staff at a few of the ground-floor restaurants felt discourteous, which unfortunately detracted a bit from the otherwise excellent image of the hotel. I believe that if the software aspect (customer service) is further refined to match the stunning spaces and brand value of Ace Hotel Kyoto, it will undoubtedly become an even more flawless destination. I sincerely appreciate the overall wonderful stay and hope my feedback serves as a constructive reference for enhancing your future guest experiences.

Very chic and modern hotel. Service staff friendly. Clean and well organized rooms. So fun that there is a record player in room(pick up diff albums on main floor). Great location, close to several metra lines. Good breakfast with different options on menu. Would definitely stay here again.

Modern, hip hotel geared towards a younger crowd, but with enough older guests to not make anyone uncomfortable. This is not a plush place, but a fun, upbeat hotel with an Italian restaurant, a Mexican restaurant, the upscale Kosa restaurant, and an indoor/outdoor bar lounge upstairs. The folks working the lobby desk double as reception and concierge and are good at doing both. English was not a problem here. The King guest room was spacious with American plugs, usb ports, a large glassed in shower next to a tub, and a sliding door separating the toilet from the sink area. All rooms feature a safe, a refrigerator filled to overflowing with optional cost items, a hair dryer, and travel amenities should you need a toothbrush, toothpaste, or Q-tips. This hotel is within a 10 minute walking distance of a ton of shops and restaurants. They even have a book of recommended restaurants with walking distances. The Nishini market is a 15 minute walk away and the Gion district is a 22 minute walk away. If you are tired of Japanese food and seek a great, reasonably priced option, make a reservation (yes, it’s necessary as it’s a small place) at La Boucle just down the street. The chef is the owner, the fixed menu superb and the French wine is good. Plus, if you are lucky, the owner will play a few melodies on his piano. I would definitely stay here again as it was convenient, comfortable, and extremely well run.

For the price and overall snobby vibe of this hotel, our experience here was underwhelming. It was the most expensive room out of all the hotels we stayed at in the Japan and probably the most disappointing. - there is nowhere in the room to sit comfortably other than on the bed and the singular desk chair - they provided us with 2 bath towels, and we had to call and ask for more towels every night. Would have been easier if housekeeping just replaced the towels - the pillows were nearly non existent. I put a pillow in between my knees and my knees were still touching. Had to call and ask for FOAM pillows after 2 nights of being uncomfortable, which is also my hot tip for anyone who does stay here - the fridge is stocked to capacity with drinks for sale - all other hotels gave us an empty fridge or included everything in the minibar - service was lackluster - no one offered to take our bags to our rooms - other hotels insisted - laundry services here were also the most expensive out of all of our hotels, and we ended up getting someone else’s t shirt back with our laundry. We let the hotel know and they didn’t charge us for the shirt, so it was handled well, but would have been better if it didn’t happen in the first place. - housekeeping was hit or miss. Some days they did a thorough job, other days they didn’t - I know this is nitpicky but the bar soap provided for our bathroom sink was never replaced and by the end of our stay we could barely pick it up from the soap tray. Liquid soap would have been nicer - there were scuff marks all over the walls of our room - the bath tub spigot has an aerator on it so it took forever to fill up the tub - we had to scout for a seat in the lobby since it was always taken over by people working or studying The good: - everyone was always nice - elevators always came quickly - it is right on top of karasuma oike station - the AC worked well - shower water pressure was great - stumptown in the lobby was nice to have - room was super quiet on the 4th floor, never heard anyone above/below or next to us, or on the street.

Great hotel with easy access to subway (no need to even go outside). We stayed via Chase travel and booked with their Edit program to get $100 property credit and free breakfast. Using points boost and $250 semi annual credit from Chase Sapphire Reserve got the two night cost down to 22,000 points, which is a fabulous value. Rooms are very nice and a good size for Japan. We had a lovely mountain view from our 7th floor room. They have free bikes that we used both days for 5+ mile rides to shrines and temples (paths along the river are great and the large streets have nice cycling lanes). Included breakfast was very delicious and the staff were excellent. No issue with bag storage for a few hours at the end of our stay. Very young and hip vibe with a bustling lobby. You can easily cast Netflix, which is a rare feature in Japanese hotels.
