We waited here 10-15 minutes but it was worth it. We were given a table for 3 of us. When one of the staff saw that it was quite a squeeze for us, he changed us to another bigger table. The Roti Babi is a must-try. The boss gave us the Sambal with lime and asked us to add the Lea & Perrins sauce with it to the Roti. Best!!! We wanted to order the Roast Pork and Steak, but both no more already… So we changed to Pork Chop! I spoke to Jack, who is the restaurant founder’s son - he is a super friendly guy! He has passed the business to his son, making him the 3rd generation for this business. Parking here is limited. There is a small open space parking lot around the corner at the next road - RM7 per entry for weekend.
The food is good. Savoury mouth watering pork. Its so good my friends didnt have time to describe the food because they were too busy shoving fpod noodles and pork into their mouth. The drink are your standard kopitiam drinks. They taste good. The servers were ok and helpful. Food arrived quite fast even with a huge crowd. The ambiance reminds me of colonial Malaya and it reminds me of my grandma and dead grandpa. But the place is very noisy and a bit hot.
I arrived with one set of expectations but left with a completely different understanding of why Yut Kee is so beloved. It is a charming relic of old-school Hainanese cuisine, serving flavors that are subtle and balanced rather than pungent or overwhelming. Despite the 9:30 AM 'full house' rush, the service was impressively efficient; we were seated in under 10 minutes. We sampled the Lum Mee, Chicken Chop, and steamed bread—none of which strive for modern 'gourmet' complexity, but instead offer a nostalgic, comforting culinary adventure.
If you want to experience truly authentic Hainanese cuisine, Yut Kee Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur is a legendary establishment that has stood the test of time. It is a deeply historical spot that delivers classic, nostalgic flavors you rarely find prepared the traditional way anymore. From their famous Hainanese chicken chop to their traditional kaya toast and pork roast, the food speaks for itself and offers a genuine taste of old-school culinary heritage. The only major catch is that the queue takes a very long time. Because of its massive popularity among locals and tourists alike, you should fully expect to wait a while before getting a table, especially during peak morning hours or over the weekend. The crowd is constant, so it is definitely a place where you need to pack some patience along with your appetite. Overall, despite the hefty waiting time, the quality and authenticity of the food make it a highly recommended destination for any food lover. The service is remarkably fast and efficient once you actually get seated, ensuring you get your food hot and fresh. It is absolutely a must-visit heritage spot, just be sure to head there early to beat the worst of the line!
Overall decent place if you’re looking for old style Hainanese Western Food. Not amazing but the food really does have a heritage taste to it. Wait times during the weekend are up to 30 mins so be prepared! We went around 12-1pm & a few of their signature items were already sold out sadly
