Spent the day exploring Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia and honestly, it’s one of the most beautifully curated museums in KL. The entire experience felt peaceful, elegant, and incredibly rich in detail — from the calligraphy galleries to the jewellery, manuscripts, and decorative arts. The calligraphy section was especially fascinating. Seeing the different Islamic script styles like Kufic, Eastern Kufic, Maghribi, and Diwani side-by-side really makes you appreciate how artistic Arabic writing can be. The gallery itself was quiet and calming, making it easy to take your time and admire the details. The jewellery and decorative pieces were another highlight. The craftsmanship on the gemstones, boxes, and intricate metalwork was stunning — every piece looked delicate yet luxurious. The bright exhibition colours made the artefacts stand out beautifully too. What I loved most about the museum was how immersive and well-maintained everything felt. The lighting, layout, and spacing between exhibits gave the museum a very premium and serene atmosphere. It didn’t feel overwhelming despite the huge collection. Perfect place if you enjoy: * history and Islamic civilisation * architecture and calligraphy * detailed craftsmanship and jewellery * peaceful indoor activities in KL * photography-friendly museum spaces Definitely worth visiting even if you’re not usually a museum person — the aesthetics and storytelling alone make the experience memorable.
Stunning museum with amazing precious historical artifacts and taught us allot about Islamic Art and architecture. The building itself is worth visiting without all the incredible stuff in it. It is a way away from other places and the on site restaurant is quite expensive, so plan your lunching accordingly. Taking a picnic for the park not a bad idea.
If you're into history and Islamic arts, then that's a great place to visit. It’s a mixture of everything: Islamic art, textiles, jewelry, rugs, clothes, a brief history of Islam (how or where and when it spread across different countries), and many more things. The only downside is that the descriptions/explanations of the items were not very comprehensive. I wish there had been more information to read while looking at them.
Absolutely brilliant museum that is a must visit during your trip to KL. Fantastic collection of artefacts. I spent so many hours learning about the faith and the history of Islam across the world. Loved my visit!
A very big and beautiful place. There’s a lift available. Adult ticket: RM20 | Child: Free (not sure from what age they start counting as adult). There are a few parking spots near the building, but more are available across the road. I felt amazed by the history of how Islam spread across the world — how art, culture, and technology blended with Islam and created so many beautiful forms of architecture, tools, and artifacts. It shows that Islam is not just a religion, but a way of life that expresses beauty in many aspects of society. Proud to be a Muslim. How wonderful it would be to see the Islamic civilization rise again. Truly a beautiful and inspiring place.
