Found this gem while hunting for a little jazz music. Nestled above a wagyu restaurant (someone try the steaks for me). Was an intimate venue run by the lovely Debra!? All the staff we encountered were lovely, the food (mainly bites) was really good and the overall bill was reasonable. There was a cover charge (sounds like an American thing), but 12 strings were well worth it. Definitely a highlight of our KL visit.
Last night was my first time at Bobo KL. Pleasantly surprised by the nice set up and cleaninless as well as welcome greetings from staff to bartenders. We came for the ONG Night where amateur comedians get their 90sec mic 🎤. We laughed so hard , they were much better than we expected. All different personalities and vibes and the variety of the jokes made it even more appealing. Such a nice mid week break from the 9-5 grind. My coworkers and I agreed it was much needed. Good news it's every Wed comedy night at BoboKL. You know where we'll be :) shout out to the nice bartender that offer us free peanuts! My many Hendricks gin tonic was Perfecto! 👌👌👌
Redeemed my MAS Enrich points for my first time here & had such a great time with Melissa Indot show. Will definately come again!!!
So far ok just our first time feel kinda A weird even we talk on our table and the front Indian lady like rude to my friend like asking to be quiet but we talk very softly….so far its A good experience and the singer voice is very lovely and comfortable …..anyone likes relax and enjoy music here is suitable ….
Great Headliner, but Show Management Needs a Serious Reality Check My family and I came to Bobo KL specifically to see the main act, Ashwin (whom we had seen many years ago and enjoyed), who is always a stellar performer. Unfortunately, the venue's management and a terrible lineup of opening acts almost completely ruined what should have been a great night out. The Warm-up Acts The opening segment was a massive struggle. Out of all the warm-up comedians, only two managed to actually deliver—the Malay comedian and the Chindian comedian, both of whom did a reasonable solid job. The other one was painful to watch, which was a Iranian performer (as he said he was Iranian). It was painfully clear he does not understand how stand-up comedy works. He resorted to desperate, repetitive jokes about self-satisfaction just to get attention and hitting on ladies as source of his comedy. The crowd was a mature one, and he completely misread the room, leaving the audience colder than winter for the next act. Despite obvious feedback from the audiences who clearly didn't enjoy his act by completedly being silent to his questions, he didn't seem to know better. Whoever manages and programs these shows needs to be brave enough to make a call and pull an act when it is clearly tanking that badly. He had at least went up the stage 3 or 4 times (which was 3 or 4 times too many). The Disruptive Crowd Member To make matters worse, the management completely failed to handle a highly intoxicated foreign lady in the audience. She spent the entire night loudly having her own conversations with her friend, interrupting the acts, and trying to justify her behavior throughout the show. She turned herself into the center of attention and constant heckler. Frankly, the vibe in the room was so frustrated that most of the audience would have preferred to see her physically kicked out rather than tolerate her disruption for the rest of the night. The Main Act: Because of the freezing room temperature left by the opener and the constant disruptions from the drunk patron, Ashwin had to work twice as hard to salvage the show. Kudos to him for his professionalism and effort under terrible circumstances, but a headliner shouldn't have to fight that hard against the venue's own environment. It was such a disappointment that when you spend money bringing your family and having drinks in order to support local comedy club to be left with wasted time and money. Verdict: Bobo KL is a great space, but the management must learn to read the room. They need to vet their open-mic/warm-up acts better and enforce a strict policy against disruptive, heckling patrons. We came for great comedy, but left thoroughly frustrated by how the evening was managed. I don't think anyone enjoyed except maybe the drunk foreigner and the Iranian. Despite there are many interesting comedy acts lined up for June, I am just too traumatized by come again to bobo any time soon. This is review is not an exaggeration of what transpired as even the staff whom I spoke to later, had similar views and apologize to me, which I don't expect him to do as it was not his fault.
