We loved the food so much that we got lunch there two times during our stay in Krakow. Located in an area populated by tourists, they have an English menu as well. But there were enough locals enjoying their lunch as well. The food came super quick and tasted superb. Even though the bar was packed, people come and go all the time, so there was no wait to get a table.
Fast, tasty, and reasonably priced. There’s a wide selection of traditional dishes, and the portions are generous enough to leave you full. The place is quite busy, which only proves how popular it is. A good choice for a quick, home-style meal.
This place is great for a traditional polish meal right near Old Town, cheap and fast. Quite busy around lunch time. However, I do not recommend this place if you have any food allergies. I asked the lady who spoke English if the ‘fried pork mince with onion, potatoes and salad’ contained any dairy (even specifying butter, milk, cream, cheese as she was unsure what I meant by dairy). I was told ‘no’ and ate a few bites, however the mashed potatoes definitely contained butter or cream to get that creaminess. Same with the cabbage, there was some sort of creamy dressing on it. Such a shame when you ask and get a reaction from the food.
A milk bar is a cafeteria style restaurant that serves inexpensive Polish dishes. I ate here twice because of that and also my first meal of pierogis and salad were quite good and also fast. In my second meal I had cabbage rolls and white borscht with a boil egg, they were a complete disappointment. The borscht was close to room temperature, the egg was below room temperature. The cabbage rolls were so overcooked, chewing was probably not necessary. Both ladies behind the counter spoke some English, they were not friendly but not rude. The decor was bare minimal, probably the same as it was during the communist time.
This is the best milk bar in the city, period. Don't let the location fool you. Even though it’s near to the main square in the Old Town, it is not a tourist trap. It’s incredibly cheap and the food is absolutely delicious—the best we've had. You might think the better and more authentic milk bars are hidden away in backstreets, but you'd be wrong. This one is the top. They make it easy for visitors: everything is written in English, and the staff understands your order perfectly. Be prepared: because it’s so good and in such a prime spot, it gets very crowded. But it is 100% worth it, even if you have to wait for a table. A must-do for authentic, amazing food!
