This is a fantastic museum, provided you take the time to read the descriptions and watch the short videos. It gives insight into the fascinating culture and beliefs of the San people. Even more: it gives a glimpse into a distant past, where our ancestors come from. If you are driving in, they will scan your driver's licence at the ramp. Then you can park at the campus.

Was my first ever visit and WOW! Our trip started with an amazing helpful and friendly lady at reception. She made the start of our trip amazing! The actual museum was also out of this world! The museumbis very well kept and our heritage perserved! Its definately a must visit for adults and kids. We did a scavenger hunt/test type thing. Paperwork was at the entrance. I accidently removed sand from the exhibit (thought it was part of the list) but the staff member in the gift shop handled it like a pro! All im all, I will def visit again! Lights nit always the best for photos

One of Joburgs best cultural offerings. Good for groups and families, the story is a fascinating look into where we come from. The Museum is now 20 years old but constantly refreshed and updated. The museum shop has an incredible book selection and the coffee shop makes a lovely toastie and cappuccino.

An amazing experience. You can easily spend 2 hours inside. Perfect for a solo excursion to zone out and just be. It's like walking around inside a history and science book, come to life. You will love it!

Near Origins Centre at Wits, there's a museum tucked away that I didn't know existed! The Origins Museum requires time to browse. Experience video installations describing dreams and death philosophy from the perspective of the San. Savour statues of smooth wood installations to transport you into a time of our ancestors. A few snapshots saved of current exhibitions, but there's so much more to learn and enjoy! Student discounts available for tickets. Ensure you have extra for the gift shop, there's amazing books, trinkets and more. Nice to see a lift to accommoda wheelchairs 👌 (if you end up by the main entrance instead of origin centre entrance... sharing just incase security insists you go to the main entrance).
