The tour is short but very engaging. The guides are very knowledgeable about the history of apartheid. If you wish to understand South Africa's alarming history, this is one of the most symbolic place. Only downside is the Mandela Gandhi section which lacks content in my opinion.

Constitution Hill is a significant historical site that provides profound insight into the apartheid era and the reasons why such a system should never be repeated. A guided tour is highly recommended. We met a former female prisoner whose account provided invaluable insights. The experience was both shocking and horrifying, highlighting the appalling conditions endured by the prisoners. It serves as a powerful reminder of the injustices of the past and may be distressing for some visitors. Even more shocking, the prison doors to the old fort and number four were officially closed in 1983.

A must visit. The place has aura and tell the stories of apartheid and all the sufferings that inmates had to go through here. It's also good to see the courthouse is now located in the same place, representing the protection of rights. I highly recommend visiting if you're interested in understanding South Africa's past suffering and its current rebuilding process.

Visiting Constitution Hill with my school learners was an unforgettable and powerful experience. The museum offers a deep and emotional insight into South Africa’s prison history and the journey towards democracy through the Constitution. The learners were fully engaged and amazed by the stories shared. It was incredibly moving to witness their emotional reactions as they connected with the harsh realities that former prisoners faced. The visit sparked meaningful conversations and helped the learners understand the value of human rights and the importance of our Constitution. This is truly one of Gauteng’s most important historical sites. Every South African especially the youth should visit Constitution Hill at least once. It’s an eye-opening experience that leaves a lasting impact.

Amazing facilities - nothing regarding the venue to complain about. Outside the venue is where hell awaits those who are on-foot (phones and bag snatchers at any moment of the day). The darker it gets the more danger you're likely to face. So stay away from walking and keep your car windows rolled up and be vigilant 🙏🏾
